À propos de cet audio
Thank you for joining us for another FiYA Conversation. Today, we speak with Gina Economopolous. To connect with Gina, visit https://www.ginaecon.com/ where you can Download a Free Chapter of Shake The Dust Off Your Feet and Walk: Faith, Sobriety, Self-Discovery, and Healing - A Memoir.
Gina Economopoulos shared her personal journey, beginning with her upbringing as the seventh child in a loving Long Island family and her college years, where she prioritized social activities over her faith. After graduating with a degree in social work, she worked as a bartender, which allowed her to connect with people and hear their problems. The turning point in her life came when her mother was diagnosed with cancer, prompting Gina to care for her while reflecting on her relationship with God, which had been absent during her earlier years. This experience deepened her gratitude for her family's support during a challenging time. Following her mother's death, Gina faced a crisis of faith marked by anger and grief. Despite her attempts to bargain with God, she struggled with the loss and rejected the idea that her mother was in a better place. This emotional turmoil ultimately led her back to God, and caused her to experience a transformation in her faith, moving from despair to a renewed belief in God and a desire to dedicate her life to Jesus.
Gina's life story makes her a captivating and inspiring speaker for all audiences. Through raw vulnerability, she shares how she overcame immense adversity—enduring multiple surgeries from childhood, devastating loss, a crisis of faith leading her to join and later leave the convent, the grips of alcoholism, and the struggles of tumultuous relationships. Yet, Gina's unwavering resilience, strengthened by her profound spirituality, enabled her to reclaim her life's purpose. Gina's very presence is a testament to the power of the human spirit to persevere. Her story reminds us that hope can be discovered even in our darkest moments and will leave an audience inspired.
