The first of five episodes. Story Synopsis: After years of warring factions and corruption of the priests and prophets, the Israelites demand that God give them a king. Despite the warning of the prophet Samuel, King Saul is anointed. While Saul is a great warrior and leader, God is angered when he unlawfully offers a sacrifice and disobeys divine instruction. Learning that the kingdom will be taken from him, Saul becomes increasingly paranoid. As Saul slips into madness a future king begins to rise, one who is arguably the greatest king the world has ever seen: King David.
Episode 1: When Israel’s long-trusted prophet, Samuel, arrives unexpectedly at the city of Bethlehem, it’s clear that the Lord is setting a plan in motion that will mean the undoing of King Saul, but something glorious for a young shepherd named David.
