Do we think of our conscience only as a feeling of guilt when our behavior or attitudes seem somehow out of line with our inner sense of moral right and wrong? What if we imagine the conscience as something much deeper and more powerful? An active process that allows access to our natural finer values — sometimes called the ‘better angels of our nature’?

An international gathering of Portals friends join Aviv Shahar in this conversation to explore the nature and function of conscience. As we discover, unraveling the mystery and meaning of the conscience also takes us deeper into the nature of the soul and its mission to guide and uplift our earthly journey.

In Portals Into The Soul – Chapter 2, conscience is described as a self-arising moral presence — part of the soul’s awakened power and purpose. We’re invited to hear, sense and feel the multiple dimensions of the conscience, rather than only consider definitions and notions in our head.

Among their insights and sentiments:

• Conscience is a form of guidance that we experience as a self-aligning angelic presence within — an actuality we feel as an impulse that evaluates, regulates, nudges and directs.
• When we attune to the ‘permanent-line’ values of the universe, we sense the universe is a learning system, and learns best through our conscious witnessing experience.
• We can transcend personal development work to consider soul work for humanity, where we metabolize, disarm and recast the collective memory, a form of ‘world work’.
• We can engage with the conscience esoterically as a function — a cosmic, planetary process — that brings us to know the elemental building blocks of life.

“There is something about this universe, it is a learning system. It wants to continue to learn. Now we may be wired also in the first and the second impulse into learning for different reasons. But when we are attuned to the permanent line values of the universe, one of the dimensions we will exhibit will be that sense of the universe is a learning system.
