Good morning. Maine. I'm DJ Huzz. That rain hammering your roof overnight? Nearly half an inch across parts of the state. and it left a parting gift. Dense fog. If you're driving inland routes before 9 A.M., slow way down. Visibility could vanish on you. In the next 24 hours. So what's going on? A dying cold front is draped across central Florida like a wet towel nobody wants to pick up. Tropical moisture is pooled south of it. We're talking moisture levels near the 95th percentile for late February. That's basically summer juice in a winter atmosphere. The front's crawling south. and drier air is chasing it from the northwest. but until that swap happens, central Florida sits right in the crosshairs. Up in North Florida, you're getting off easy. Cloudy skies, highs in the mid to upper 60s. Not bad at all. Central Florida catches the action. Scattered showers and thunderstorms fire up this afternoon. Highs reach the low to mid 70s. The bullseye for stronger storms? Lake Okeechobee and the Treasure Coast, roughly between 2 P.M. and 4 P.M. Gusty winds and small hail are the main threats. Nothing catastrophic, but enough to rattle your patio furniture. Down in South Florida, partly sunny skies and highs near 80 degrees. A stray shower is possible, but you're mostly watching the fireworks from a distance. Everything fizzles by evening. Skies clear statewide tonight. Lows settle into the mid 50s up north, upper 50s through central. and a balmy 70 degrees in South Florida. Now the good news. Sunday brings wall to wall sunshine. Comfortable 70s in the north, upper 70s central, low 80s south. Monday through Wednesday stays mostly sunny but breezy. Coastal gusts hit 20 to 25 miles an hour by midweek. Thursday and Friday? Warm and dry. Low to mid 80s statewide. Charge your phones before those afternoon storms roll through. You'll want radar handy. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. Stay safe, stay prepared. and enjoy the day.
