Sainte-Maxime, Land of Liberation, takes you to the heart of the history of the Provence Landings.

Let us tell you the story... In 1939, France declared war on Germany. After the 1940 armistice, Sainte-Maxime came under Italian, and later German, occupation. On August 15, 1944, Allied forces landed in Sainte-Maxime, facing strong defenses. Despite this, the town was liberated, and the German soldiers were captured. French troops landed later in the afternoon.
