À propos de cet audio

Charlotte, Charlie and Millie discuss the importance of annual reviews and appraisals in every Nanny role. They're not just about asking for something like a pay rise. They provide a valuable opportunity for an open and honest discussion about your current role, what’s going well, and how your position is likely to evolve over the next year. It’s a dedicated moment to reflect on how your responsibilities may have shifted and to ensure you and the family remain aligned.

The ladies discuss key focuses of the review such as the children’s development. Discuss their milestones, progress, and any areas where support may need to adapt. This is also the time to look ahead at upcoming changes — for example, if school will start earlier next term or if after-school activities like ballet are moving to a later time. Instead of simply raising problems, come prepared with potential solutions so you can work collaboratively on what the new routine could look like.

Preparation makes a huge difference. Before the meeting, take time to reflect on your achievements over the past year and set some clear goals for the year ahead. Going in with notes not only helps you feel confident but also ensures you cover everything you need to. After the review, write up what was discussed and keep it for your own records. It’s a great way to keep track of your progress, and it can be a brilliant pick-me-up when you need a reminder of how far you’ve come.

Dear Charlotte’s DMs

Is it appropriate to ask my employer for an advance? They can’t pay their rent and keep getting late charges.
