    He is also an elegant and seductive man, much appreciated by women. He knows how to show himself with an unequalled irony towards the police forces and his rivals (mainly Inspector Ganimard and the British detective Herlock Sholmès (parody of Sherlock Holmes).


    • His childlike side as well as a darker side, a character at once seductive, tortured and mysterious, have ensured his success with many readers. His creator, Maurice Leblanc, was nicknamed "the French Conan Doyle".
