    Paul Huppert serves as Concertmaster-St. Louis Civic Orchestra, Principal Second Violin with the Illinois Symphony Orchestra, Concertmaster-St. Louis Chamber Orchestra, Associate Concertmaster-Bach at the Seminary Series. He is a regular contributor with the Fox Theater in St. Louis and also performs with the Union Avenue Opera.
    Paul Niemisto, CVRO founder and conductor, retired from the St. Olaf College music faculty in 2016. In spring 2017 he was a Fulbright scholar in Finland studying the historical brass band music of Finland’s independence in 1917. Since 1991 he has directed a Finnish-American brass ensemble Boys of America which has traveled widely and made recordings in the U.S. and Scandinavia. In summer 2006, he began the Vintage Band Festival held in Northfield.

In the first segment, guests from the concert include conductor and co-founder Laura Geissler, bassist Jeff Guerney, cellist Beth Hagemeister and then for the second segment, the guests will be arranger and violinist Laurie Stegner, violinist Michael Provancha, and bassist Becky Gillette.

    World’s Greatest Zombie

    Zany and spooky vignettes inspired by horror pop culture—just in time for the scariest of seasons! Audiences can expect irreverent nods to the Necronomicon, The Thing, short-tempered ghosts, lusty vampires, and a sestina chock full o’ chainsaws.COSTUME CONTEST: WIN A HANDMADE (BY MICHAEL!) NECRONOMICON FOR BEST COSTUME!

    Originally from Flandreau, SD, Michael Shaeffer has taught English in Minnesota, Iowa, Las Vegas, and Alaska. He has seven published books of pop-culture irreverence. He has competed at the National Poetry Slam three times and was recently seen in the Guild production of Shakespeare in Love. The best horror movie he’s seen recently is Weapons. He and his wife moved to Northfield in February and plan on sticking around for a while.
