  • Final weekend of the regular season: AL East & Central up for grabs, Mets barely holding onto NL Wild Card spot
    Sep 26 2025

After 159 games have been played and settled, the final weekend slate of the 2025 MLB regular season is upon us, and there is plenty of drama set to unfold. With a few postseason spots still up for grabs, as well as a couple of division crowns, we’re sure to be in for a memorable finish to an unforgettable regular season of baseball.

Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman discuss all the headlines going into the weekend, including whether the Cleveland Guardians will be able to hang onto their improbable division lead in the AL Central over the Detroit Tigers, whether the New York Yankees or Toronto Blue Jays will be crowned the kings of the AL East and the incredible season we’ve seen from Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh. They then talk about how crazy it is that the Houston Astros probably won’t be making their annual postseason trip this October.

Also on this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake and Jordan talk about the current postseason picture in the National League, which currently has the New York Mets holding onto the final Wild Card spot despite the Cincinnati Reds and Arizona Diamondbacks trying their best to overtake them. They also discuss how strange it’ll be to see the Los Angeles Dodgers playing in the Wild Card round, the Automated Ball-Strike (ABS) challenge system coming to MLB next season and make their picks for The Good, The Bad & The Uggla.

  • Guardians eye historic comeback, Tigers & Mets watch postseason dreams slip and Mariners take AL West control
    Sep 22 2025

For the majority of the 2025 MLB season, the American League Central saw the Detroit Tigers maintain a healthy division lead, holding off any potential challengers. However, the Cleveland Guardians have stormed back from 15.5 games behind to cut the Tigers' lead down to just one game with one week left to play.

Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman discuss the incredible comeback from the scorching-hot Guardians and whether the Tigers will ultimately be able to hold off an increasingly unfortunate collapse that could see them miss the postseason entirely. The guys then dive into the Seattle Mariners sweeping the Houston Astros this past weekend, giving them full control of the AL West and putting a division title within reach.

Also on this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake and Jordan talk about the New York Mets and their rough weekend against the Washington Nationals, which saw them lose control of the final NL Wild Card spot to the Cincinnati Reds after the Reds swept the Chicago Cubs. Later, the guys discuss Clayton Kershaw’s final regular-season start at Dodger Stadium and recap all the other action from MLB this weekend.

1:24 – The Opener: Mariners take control
13:48 – Wild AL Central update
28:28 – Around The League: NL Wild Card is up for grabs
    44:33 – NL tiebreaker scenarios
