Becoming Living Stones Of Hope

“With this faith we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope.” - Martin Luther King Jr

The prophetic traditions of the scriptures consistently compare and contrast the world as it is to the world as it should be.

Then we are invited to choose. We can choose resignation, hopelessness, and despair. We can choose to give into cynicism.

Or we can choose to be a part of building the world as it should be. In 1 Peter, God is the builder and we are the stones.

“Like living stones let yourselves be built into a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices…” - from 1 Peter 2:5

Dear God, out of the mountains of hopelessness and despair, let us become your living stones of hope. Amen.
