    तेरे उतारे हुए दिन…टंगे है लॉन में अब तक
    ना वो पुराने हुए है ..ना उनका रंग उतरा
    कही से कोई भी सिवन ..अभी नहीं उधड़ी
    इलायची के बहुत पास रखे पत्थर पर
    ज़रा सी जल्दी सरक आया करती है छाँव
    ज़रा सा और घना हो गया है वो पौंधा
    मैं थोडा थोडा वो गमला हटाता रहता हूँ
    फकीरा अब भी वहीँ, मेरी कॉफ़ी देता है

    गिलहरियों को बुलाकर खिलाता हूँ बिस्कुट
    गिलहरियाँ मुझे शक की नज़र से देखती है
    वो तेरे हांथों का मस जानती होगी

    कभी – कभी जब उतरती है चील शाम की छत से
    थकी – थकी सी …ज़रा देर लॉन में रुककर
    सफ़ेद और गुलाबी मसुम्बे के पोंधों में घुलने लगती है
    कि जैसे बर्फ का टुकड़ा पिघलता जाये व्हिस्की में

    मैं स्कार्फ दिन का गले से उतार देता हूँ
    तेरे उतारे हुए दिन पहन के अब भी मैं
    तेरी महक में कई रोज़ काट देता हूँ
    तेरे उतारे हुए दिन …
