  • The Religion of the Day by Msgr James Shea (Full Audiobook)
    Dec 17 2025

We are living in a highly religious age. Secular gospels and dogmatic faiths promising salvation are all around us. So what is the belief system, the religious vision, that is displacing Christianity as the assumed narrative by which our post-Christian, modern societies live? And what is the religion that we ourselves need to be converted out of, if we are to be fully converted to the Christian faith?"It is possible to do many Catholic things, and yet not have a Catholic mind. This is especially true in our post-Christian age.It is to be expected. As the ideas that provide the grounding of a culture shift, many people will continue their usual religious practices even as, without noting it, their view of the world is subtly changing. This is not meant as a critique of any individual person. It is simply the dynamic of a time in which the Christian faith is being abandoned and replaced by another very different and quite potent way of viewing the world."Monsignor James Shea has served as the sixth president of the university since 2009. He is a Catholic priest of the Diocese of Bismarck, North Dakota. You can get the book here: https://www.ctsbooks.org/product/the-religion-of-the-day/(0:00) Opening Credits (0:25) Introduction by Dr Jonathan Reyes(21:39) Chapter 1: The Religion of the Day(36:38) Chapter 2: Twelve Aspects of Modern Progressive Religion(1:47:06) Chapter 3: Some Further Notes on Progressive, Neo-Gnostic Religion(2:14:13) Chapter 4: Catching All the Diseases of the World(3:14:56) Chapter 5: Fighting the Battle Inside the Church(4:01:30) Chapter 6: The Winning Stance(4:23:11) Conclusion: The Kingdom, the Tribulation and the Patient Endurance

  • From Christendom to Apostolic Mission by Msgr James Shea [Full Audiobook]
    Dec 2 2025

Every human society possesses a moral and spiritual imaginative vision, a set of assumptions and ways of looking at things according to which life proceeds.

'From Christendom to Apostolic Mission' is an attempt to contribute effective strategies to engage our own time and culture once more with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and – for a weary world – to awaken the Catholic imaginative vision.Monsignor James Shea has served as the sixth president of the university since 2009. He is a Catholic priest of the Diocese of Bismarck, North Dakota."A compelling Christian narrative is called for, one that provides a counter to the secular vision, that helps Christians understand and fend off false gospels. There needs to be a re-articulation of the truth that can provide those who are languishing under the malnourishment of the modern spiritual diet a way out of their predicament."You can get the book here: https://www.ctsbooks.org/product/from-christendom-to-apostolic-mission/

  • St Oscar Romero: Martyr for Faith (Audiobook)
    Feb 5 2025

Throughout history Christians have suffered martyrdom and torture as a result of ‘hatred of the faith’ (odium fidei). Archbishop Oscar Romero, gunned down while saying Mass, was declared to be such a martyr by Pope Francis, thus opening the way for his beatification and subsequent canonisation. Romero paid the ultimate price for his faithfulness to Christ and his Church, rather than is often misrepresented, for his political activism. Romero’s impressive body of teaching, personal holiness and sufferings illustrate what an impressive witness to the faith he truly was. Listen to this audiobook for free. Pier Giorgio Frassati's generosity was legendary. He often gave the clothes he was wearing to poor people he met who were in need. An open anti-fascist, a keen sportsman and mountaineer, an enthusiast of the theatre and literature, and a young man with a great devotion to the Blessed Sacrament, he stands as a great example of Christianity in action. His life was cut short by polio at the age of 24 and thousands of the Italian industrial city's poor lined the streets at his funeral. He was beatified in 1990 by Pope St John Paul II.
