Hello, Buckeyes! Welcome back to another episode of our campus news podcast. Today is Monday, August 18, 2025, and we've got some exciting updates and events to share with you. First up, a quick reminder for all incoming students: the final orientation session is scheduled for tomorrow, August 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Maynard Hall. This is your last chance to get acquainted with campus resources, meet fellow students, and prepare for the upcoming semester. If you haven't registered yet, be sure to do so through your Applicant Center. Looking ahead, mark your calendars for the "Understanding Spiders Workshop" taking place from August 22 to August 24 at Stone Laboratory in Put-In-Bay. This workshop runs daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and offers a deep dive into the fascinating world of arachnids. It's a great opportunity for biology enthusiasts and anyone interested in expanding their knowledge of these creatures. Classes officially begin on August 26, so make sure you're ready to hit the ground running. And don't forget, Labor Day is on September 1, which means no classes and offices will be closed. It's a perfect time to relax and recharge after the first week of the semester. For those interested in mental health and wellness, the REACH Suicide Prevention Training is scheduled for September 11 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Maynard Hall, Room 125. This training is crucial for anyone looking to support peers and promote a safe campus environment. On September 24, the Major, Graduate, and Professional School Fair will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Alber Student Center's Greg Swepston Gymnasium. This event is ideal for students exploring further education opportunities and seeking information on various programs. Looking further ahead, "A Taste of the Harvest 2025" is set for October 6 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Guthery Community Room at Maynard Hall. This event celebrates the season with delicious food and community spirit. And for prospective students, don't miss the Buckeye Preview Day on October 2 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Guthery Community Room. It's a fantastic opportunity to learn about the programs and resources available at Ohio State Marion. In local news, the Marion Popcorn Festival is coming up in September, the weekend following Labor Day. This annual event in downtown Marion is a must-visit, featuring parades, live entertainment, and, of course, plenty of popcorn. It's a great way to engage with the local community and enjoy some fun outside of campus. That's all for today's episode. Stay tuned for more updates, and as always, Go Buckeyes!
