She takes us through the proud Woods tradition, her climb to the State tournament, and the lessons learned from tough losses along the way. • Coach 19 - Christian 'C-Luce' Lucero
    Sep 4 2025

Christian shares how baseball runs in his bloodline, shaping his beginnings in the sport. He reflects on his high school days at Las Vegas High, giving credit and appreciation to several teammates and to Coach Thomas for their influence along the way.

His collegiate path was anything but straightforward. Christian recalls his first stop at College of the Desert, where he earned the starting job but struggled mentally without the guidance of a mentor. The absence of that support made it difficult to grow as a student-athlete, and ultimately, it cost him his spot.

Determined to keep going, Christian moved on to CSN. He redshirted in hopes of being the best candidate for year two, but he also acknowledges the mistakes that eventually led to his dismissal from the program. After a period of reflection and nearly walking away from the game, he found one last opportunity with Cerro Coso. There, Christian took his final at-bat, leaning on his greatest strength—experience and maturity—while building meaningful bonds with his teammates.

Christian’s story is one of ups, downs, and resilience. It’s a reminder that growth often comes from the struggles, and maturity comes from finding lessons in every step of the journey.

Passionate about the growth of wrestling in Nevada, Coach Terry makes a strong case for change, especially when it comes to expanding opportunities for women in the sport. Two cornerstones of Vista’s program stand out in his story: creating an electric home dual atmosphere and hosting a girls’ tournament to showcase rising talent.

His journey is marked by battles, lessons, and resilience—but above all, it’s a story of success built on impact, vision, and hope for the future of wrestling.
