I always try to share awe-inspiring or surprising stories with you on Wednesdays, and I have a whole fresh crop of them for you now, because we’ve just published a new book called Chicken Soup for the Soul: Hope, Faith & Miracles. I put this new collection together by going through tens of thousands of the stories in our library and picking out the ones I wanted to put together for this new anthology, just in time for holiday shopping. Hey, it’s Amy Newmark with your Chicken Soup for the Soul and I’m pleased to share new stories with you from Chicken Soup for the Soul: Let It Go, which is our latest best-selling self-help book. So, you may have heard about the book by Mel Robbins called The Let Them Theory, which repositions how we should handle our lives, by letting go of things that aren’t worth trying to control or are impossible to control. Why waste energy on those things? This life hack has been a big part of our messaging over the years, because it really works. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

  • Happily Ever Laughter
    Sep 26 2025
Hey, it’s Amy Newmark with your Chicken Soup for the Soul. There’s a lot going on right now and it’s confusing and divisive and no one is sure how it’s all going to work out. So this may be the perfect time for our new humor book, Chicken Soup for the Soul: Laughter’s Always the Best Medicine. I suggest you turn off the news, shut down social media, and return to one of the most basic, and most useful, skills that we have—and that is humanity’s ability to laugh at itself. Our new collection of funny stories documents the mishaps and misadventures of daily life, as shared with us by about 100 different people. And one of the places where a lot of those funny things happen is in marriages, and I love the stories we get about spouses pranking each other or reporting on each other’s various mishaps. Hey, it’s Amy Newmark with your Chicken Soup for the Soul and in these unsettling times that means you need a big dose of laughter. We have it for you in the form of our latest book, because if laughter is the best medicine then this is your prescription. I know some people think that Chicken Soup for the Soul is all about self-help or heartwarming stories but no, this is the eighth humor book that we’ve published since I became publisher in 2008. It’s filled with funny stories from 100 different writers, many of them making fun of themselves and sharing their most embarrassing moments. We’ve got stories about domestic disasters, mistaken identity, wedding snafus, technology traumas, wardrobe malfunctions, words that came out wrong, and all the other ways in which we find humor in our daily lives. • Do What You Love
    Sep 19 2025
Hey, it’s Amy Newmark with your Chicken Soup for the Soul and I want to share another couple of stories with you today from our new book about why Self-Care Isn’t Selfish. We’ve been talking about self-care all summer… because what better time than to reorient your life and remind yourself that self-care is not selfish; it’s part of what you have to do to remain a functioning human being. So making a commitment to yourself should be a priority, at least for some amount of time each day or week. And you might say, well I’ll do it later, when such and such thing happens… But when is the time ever going to be right? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

  • When a Mother's Prayers Are Miraculously Answered
    Sep 17 2025
Hey, it’s Amy Newmark with your Chicken Soup for the Soul, and it’s Wow Wednesday. I always try to share awe-inspiring or surprising stories with you on Wednesdays, so I went back to one of our older books and found a couple that I really love from one of our past bestsellers, Chicken Soup for the Soul: Miracles and the Unexplainable. That book is filled with stories of miracles, and healing, and insightful dreams, angelic intervention, divine timing, and just plain cool coincidences. And there are also lots of stories about answered prayers, including two very magical ones that I’m going to share with you today about a couple of mothers who prayed for their children and pulled off miracles. • Getting to Know Dad and Find Forgiveness
    Sep 15 2025
Hey, it’s Amy Newmark with your Chicken Soup for the Soul and I’m pleased to share new stories with you from Chicken Soup for the Soul: Let It Go, which is our latest best-selling self-help book. I didn’t really understand the power of forgiveness to change my life until I started doing this editor-in-chief job at Chicken Soup for the Soul 18 years ago. I always thought that the word “forgiveness” meant that you were excusing the person who hurt you, saying that it was okay. But it turns out that “forgiveness” doesn’t mean that. What it actually means is that you have decided not to keep reliving all the negative feelings associated with whatever bad thing happened to you. You may even come to understand WHY it happened and what drove the other person to act that way, which enables you to NOT take it personally. Because it was never really about you. It was about themselves. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
