  • S6E12 - The Black Robed Regiment: Samuel Stanhope Smith
    Feb 4 2026

In this week's episode, I continue looking at the pastors known as the Black-Robed Regiment who, through their teaching and preaching, helped solidify and give a moral defense of the American War for Independence. Today I consider Samuel Stanhope Smith, who served as both a professor and President of the College of New Jersey (i.e., Princeton University) in the late 1700s and early 1800s. As such, Pastor Smith exercised an incredible influence over the founding fathers. On this episode, I go over two of his sermons: Religion Necessary to National Prosperity and Patriotism. Those sermons, along with many others, can be found in the two-volume set titled The Sermons of Samuel Stanhope Smith.

  • Confronting Ethnic Christian Nationalism and Israel: A Candid Discussion
    Feb 4 2026

The principal focus of this podcast episode centers on the insidious rise of ethnic Christian nationalism and its implications for the church and society at large. In our discourse, we delineate the troubling intersection of faith and separatism, particularly as it pertains to attitudes towards Israel and the Jewish community. Andrew Rappaport, alongside guest Haps Addison, delves into his personal experiences and observations regarding the alarming rhetoric proliferating within certain Christian circles. They examine the roots of this phenomenon, tracing it back to extremist ideologies that distort the message of Christ and foster division rather than unity. Our aim is to foster a deeper understanding of these issues, encouraging listeners to critically reflect on the narratives they encounter and to uphold the true essence of the Gospel in their lives.

    Takeaways:

    1. In this episode, we explore the significant impact of separatism within Christian communities and its potential to foster division among believers.
    2. We discuss how the rise of ethnic Christian nationalism poses a grave threat to the essence of the Christian faith and its teachings.
    3. Listeners will gain insight into the dangers of conspiracy theories that intertwine with faith, leading to a distorted understanding of Christian identity.
    4. The conversation sheds light on the need for a focused commitment to the gospel, emphasizing our identity in Christ over political or ethnic affiliations.

  • #67 The Precedence of Scripture: Unraveling the Church and God's Word
    Feb 3 2026

The salient point of this podcast episode revolves around the critical inquiry into the relationship between the Word of God and the church. Pastor Anthony Uvenio, a distinguished guest and host of The Reformed Rookie podcast, joins us to explore this pivotal question: which came first, God's Word or the church? We delve into various theological perspectives, particularly contrasting Reformed and Roman Catholic understandings of authority and salvation. Through this discourse, we aim to elucidate the significance of scripture as the ultimate authority in the life of the believer, and the implications of this for our understanding of faith and practice. We invite our listeners to engage deeply with these foundational truths as we seek to affirm the primacy of God's Word in our spiritual journey.

    Takeaways:

    1. In the discourse of faith, a pivotal question arises: which was established first, the Word of God or the Church itself?
    2. Pastor Anthony Uvinio elucidates the importance of adhering solely to Scripture, emphasizing that divine truth transcends human traditions and interpretations.
    3. The discussion highlights the necessity for believers to engage with the Scriptures personally, fostering individual understanding and spiritual growth.
    4. Through personal testimonies, we demonstrate that a transformative relationship with Jesus Christ is fundamental to one's faith journey and eternal destiny.

  • Sanctify Christ as Lord | The Pure in Heart
    Feb 2 2026

Jesus says, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” In Episode 13 of Sanctify Christ as Lord, we explore what purity really means. Not perfection. Not outward performance. But an undivided heart that is honest before God and no longer negotiating terms with Him.

A divided heart clouds spiritual vision, but a heart being cleansed through repentance and surrender begins to see clearly. This episode invites us to let God deal truthfully with our inner life, trusting that when our loyalties are no longer split, His presence becomes unmistakably visible.
