Relative excerpts from the podcast:”Welcome to Coffee on the Couch. I'm your host, and today we have the pleasure of sitting down with a remarkable guest, Patrick Day. Patrick's journey is a tapestry woven with words, a symphony of storytelling, and a testament to the power of resilience. As an esteemed author, publisher, and editor, Patrick has not only penned his own narratives but also opened doors to countless other voices. So, grab your favorite mug, sink into the cushions, and let's celebrate the uniqueness of individual stories, the highs, the hurdles, and the heartwarming moments that make us human. Patrick, welcome to our cozy corner of conversation. Patrick: Thank you very much. Your introduction made me blush. Chris: Well, thank you. I'm glad it had a reaction. It's great to have you on the show, despite the time issues we realized. We know each other through a website, Alignable. I'm on there with my podcasting, and you're on there with your writing, and we ended up getting connected. So, here we are. Patrick: Here we are. Chris: I thought we'd jump right into the questions. How do you personally interact with the divine? Patrick: That's a great question, Chris. If I don't personally interact with the divine, then you shouldn't have had me on your show. But let me tell you some of the ways I do. Since the 1990s, when I was working at a college—I have to apologize, I'm fighting a cold. Chris: No worries. Patrick: I was a dean of instruction for a two-year college in Minnesota, and I realized that I needed to have a closer connection with God. So, I started getting up an hour early, and I've continued doing that. I was terribly busy in those days, and I'm still busy now, but I took an early retirement, so I have more flexibility with my time. But I still get up an hour early. What's interesting is I don't use an alarm clock anymore. Chris: Really? That is interesting. Patrick: My alarm clock is up there. God knows that I want to get up early, so He gets me up early. When I'm traveling or someplace else and don't have a place to spend that first hour, He lets me sleep later. Chris: Wow, there you go. Patrick: So that's one thing that I do.” Patrick: "Well, in this book, Manny guides Jack through reading the Bible, praying, and Christian service. It's a journey where Jack struggles, and vows to quit drinking, but faces temptations. He nearly reaches a breaking point, contemplating drastic measures. But then, at Trafalgar Square, something unexpected happens..." Chris: "And that wraps up today's episode. We've only begun to explore my journey as an acclaimed author, publisher, and volunteer chaplain. Stay tuned for part two.
