Rob and Di Parsons have had an incredible journey together. From humble origins in a tiny one room office in 1988, their family support charity Care for the Family has gone on to speak to over 1 million people and has helped families across the UK for decades.
But their story hasn't been one of unbroken positivity. Behind the successes of Rob's early legal career and the founding of the charity, they experienced huge relationship issues, culminating in the insight that they might be about to lose their marriage. Health issues, work pressures and family dynamics were all contributing to a relationship breakdown that nearly pulled them apart.
At the same time, they had welcomed a local homeless man, Ronnie Lockwood to come and live with them. Though adding to the challenges they faced initially, Ronnie became part of the family and lived with them for 45 years until his death in 2020. They rebuilt their marriage from the ground up and navigated life side by side.
In this revealing and honest conversation they share their secret to surviving, growing and thriving through decades of marriage. With stories and wisdom on conflict, communication, sex and much more, Rob and Di reflect on lives lived in pursuit of a better marriage.
