    I love samurai, the code, the fashion, I mean, who doesn't so when I saw that comics writer/artist Ibrahim Moustafa was working on a samurai centric project, I immediately reached out to chat about it. After getting a look at the actual pages, it should come as no surprise that as an adept at blending genre, he's knocking it out of the park again with his forthcoming East meets West Humanoids project Halfblood funding soon on Kickstarter. I get annoyed sometimes at the panel economization of fight choreography in comics as a daily martial arts practitioner, but was pleasantly surprised with how meticulously this was researched and executed . Balazs was last on the podcast to talk about Wolfpitch, which was a graphic novel I loved, so I was happy to have him back on to talk about A Bite of Pepper, which will be out on August 26th. Balazs and I chat about mixing vampires and skateboarding, the history of vampire lore, creating grounded characters, and pivoting during the editing process when you're faced with the possibility of having to rework completed pages.     As regular listeners will know, I spent seven years living in the greater Puget Sound area and despite having lived in eight different states, it’s one of two places that will always be home to me. There’s something about small Washington State towns that can feel delightfully out of time and there’s no greater contrast to them than the technology centric hub that is Seattle crowned by its futuristic Space Needle. It elicits a range of complex emotions as a former local that the visitor will never understand primary among them is a clash between modern advancement and the struggle of smaller coastal communities to hold onto their ways of life and cultural identities.
