  • Patrick Kane Makes History & Why Can’t Canada Fix Their Goaltending Problem
    Jan 30 2026

We start the show with some history in Detroit where Patrick Kane became the leading point getter of all American-born NHLers surpassing Mike Modano. Are there any active players that could challenge the mark?

Last night had plenty of dramatic comeback wins with the Carolina Hurricanes and Edmonton Oilers highlighting them. Carolina scored three goals in the last two minutes to beat Utah 5-4 in regulation. The Edmonton Oilers stormed back from 3-0 down in the third and took a 4-3 overtime victory against the San Jose Sharks.

It was the Alex show in Buffalo last night with Alex Tuch getting a hat trick and Alex Lyon getting 37 saves in a 4-1 victory. Lyon has now won his last ten appearances for the Sabres. Are we about to see the Sabres break their playoff drought?

John Matisz from The Score talks with the guys about a recent article he wrote about the fall of Canadian goaltending development.

  • A Nashville Predators’ Playoff Reality Check & Panarin sits in New York
    Jan 29 2026

Welcome to Daily Faceoff Live with Tyler Yaremchuk and Carter Hutton!

We start with Ondrej Palat scoring in his Islanders debut, the Islanders topping the Rangers, and a wild penalty sequence you have to see. We also touch on Ottawa staying hot after back-to-back impressive wins, pouring in 12 goals over their last two games.

Then we get into the Artemi Panarin situation. Panarin will not play for the Rangers before the Olympic break, and we discuss what that means, his contract outlook, and which teams could realistically be in the mix moving forward.

Next, we talk rebuilds. Montreal is ranked #1 among NHL rebuilds, and we explain why the Canadiens’ turnaround has been so impressive compared to teams like the Ducks, Sharks, and Blackhawks. How did Montreal get back into the playoff picture so fast?

We wrap things up with The All 32 segment, asking what has surprised us most so far this NHL season and why this year feels different.

  • Trouble in Toronto, Darche Making Deals and Massive Trade Rumors
    Jan 28 2026

Welcome to Daily Faceoff Live with Tyler Yaremchuk and Carter Hutton!

We start the show in Leafland where the Toronto Maple Leafs celebrated the 50th anniversary of Darryl Sittler's 10-point game by almost allowing 10 against the Buffalo Sabres. A 7-4 loss puts the Leafs eight points out of a playoff spot and wraps up an 0-4-1 home stretch. Is it time to look to next season for the Leafs?

The New York Islanders continue to be active in the trade market acquiring Ondrej Palat and picks for the New Jersey Devils for Maxim Tsyplakov. The Devils shed salary, while the Islanders gain a player with playoff experience and some picks. Are either teams done dealing?

Next its another edition of This or That. If you had to pick between the Winnipeg Jets and Nashville Predators who would you bet on to make the playoffs? Who would be the bigger disappointment not making the playoffs the Washington Capitals or the Los Angeles Kings?

David Pagnotta from The Fourth Period joins the show for The Insider Notebook. We'll discuss trade talk around the league, who could acquire and extend Artemi Panarin, and the fallout of the pre-Olympic trades.

    Jan 27 2026

Today on Daily Faceoff Live we start by talking about the Carson Soucy trade as he heads across town from the Rangers to the Islanders. Does this mean the Islanders think they have a serious shot in the playoffs? What will be their next move?

We then talk about the Minnesota Wild and the crazy rumors that Jesper Wallstedt could be on the market. Is there any truth to these rumors and why would they move him? Is this a good idea?

There are a few more names floating around the league in the trade market, let’s talk about those and find out who could be on the move. Also, Barkov has returned to the ice in Florida, what could this mean for the Panthers?

Jeff Marek joins the show to continue the rumor mill and talk about the Evander Kane rumors and whether or not Jake Allen could be a solid return for the Canucks. Who else are the Devils in on and what’s next for the Penguins?

  • Evan Bouchard Shines, the Penguins Keep Rolling & Brock Seguin Joins the Show
    Jan 26 2026

Welcome to Daily Faceoff Live with Tyler Yaremchuk and Steve Peters!

We start the show with another Monday edition of Man of the Weekend. After his Jasper Pond Hockey tournament win, Pat was a contender for this award, but Tyler went with another player in the province who scored his first career hat trick over the weekend contributing on every goal in an intense overtime win.

Stuart Skinner is fitting in nicely in Pittsburgh and the Penguins are cruising on a four-game win streak sitting second in the Metro Division. Are the Penguins actually good or is this a fluke?

Next, it's Concern-O-Meter time as the Washington Capitals and Toronto Maple Leafs both had rough weekends and sit 5 points out of the last wildcard spot in the East. Who should be more concerned with their season slipping away?

Sam Montembeault has allowed 12 goals in his last 3 starts going 1-2-0. Is it time for the Canadiens to be seriously concerned about their crease situation? Who could Kent Hughes realistically go after at the deadline in a thin goalie market?

Brock Seguin from DFO Fantasy joins the show for his segment A Guy, A Stat & A Trend. Who does Brock have as key contributors heading into the Olympic Break?
