  • How Can Jarmo Kekalainen Fix the Buffalo Sabres?
    Dec 16 2025

Welcome to Daily Faceoff Live with Tyler Yaremchuk and Carter Hutton!

We start the show with big news out of Buffalo as they fired their GM Kevyn Adams after 5+ seasons in charge. Jarmo Kekäläinen, formerly the Columbus GM, has been promoted from senior advisor to take over the team.

It’s a tall task ahead for Kekäläinen, but can he save the Sabres after years of mediocrity and get them to the playoffs?

Next, it’s Fill in the Blank, which GM or coach is next on the hot seat?

Jeff Marek from The Sheet joins the show to talk how far the Sabres are from contending, how much Bedard’s injury effects his Olympic hopes, and how much of the team is still up for debate.

  • A Wild Weekend: Hughes Heads to the State of Hockey
    Dec 15 2025

Welcome to Daily Faceoff Live with Tyler Yaremchuk and Carter Hutton!

After a wild weekend, former Norris Trophy winner and Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes is on his way to the State of Hockey following a blockbuster trade on Saturday.

Hughes scored a goal in a 6–2 win over Boston in his Wild debut, while Buium, one of the pieces in the return, had a two-point game in his Canucks debut to lead Vancouver to a 2–1 win.

Is the Wild’s Stanley Cup window officially open? Bill Guerin has shown he’s not afraid to take a big swing with his team positioned to make a run at the Stanley Cup. What other moves could the Wild GM pull off to beef up his roster in the highly competitive Central Division?

We start the show with Monday's staple segment, Man of the Weekend. This week it's not just highlighting players, with two teams making the list. The Utah Mammoth and Dylan Guenther capped off a comeback from 3-0 down against Pittsburgh, Sunday to shock the Pens 5-4 in overtime.

The San Jose Sharks also took advantage of the Penguins this weekend as they scored five unanswered, four in the third period to take a 6-5 overtime win Saturday.

Harman Dayal joins the show for The All 32 to discuss what’s next for the Vancouver Canucks after the shocking trade that shipped their captain out of the city. Are more moves imminent for the BC team?

  • The Oilers Acquire Tristan Jarry & Tyler Johnson Joins the Show
    Dec 12 2025

Welcome to Daily Faceoff Live with Tyler Yaremchuk and Carter Hutton!

We start the show with breaking trade news out of Edmonton where the Oilers have pulled off a shocking goalie swap sending Stuart Skinner to Pittsburgh for Tristan Jarry. Many thought we'd see a Jarry/Skinner tandem in Oil Country, but the swap has sent shockwaves through the NHL.

Is Tristan Jarry the answer for the Oilers crease concerns or is this a unilateral move?

What's next for these teams? Are the Oilers still in the market for another goalie? Will Skinner propel the Penguins to the playoffs? Can Jarry and Pickard be a sustainable tandem in Edmonton? Is Skinner going to resign in Pittsburgh for less than Jarry?

Two-time Stanley Cup champion Tyler Johnson joins the show to talk about his career, the Tampa Bay Lightning, John Copper, and maybe we'll get his thoughts on the Jarry/Skinner swap.

  • How Many Teams Could Be in the Quinn Hughes Conversation?
    Dec 11 2025

Welcome to Daily Faceoff Live with Tyler Yaremchuk and Carter Hutton!

We start the show with the struggling Mammoth who after last night's loss have fallen to fifth in the Central with a points percentage below .500. What needs to change in Utah to get them back on track?

Have we already seen the best of Connor McDavid? Some stats may say the prime of Connor McDavid is in the past, what do Tyler and Hutts think about the Oilers superstar?

On the discussion of declines we like at other prevalent players around the league that were highlighted in an article by Paul Pidutti on the Daily Faceoff website. Has Father Time caught up with Jordan Binnington, Filip Forsberg, JT Miller, and Linus Ullmark?

    https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/news/father-time-2025-aging-decline-mcdavid-binnington-forsberg-ullmark-miller

David Pagnotta from The Fourth Period joins the show for the Insider Notebook where we will discuss who could enter the Quinn Hughes sweepstakes and what options Dallas have for their new-found cap space.

  • Worrisome Goaltending in Montreal & the Central Division's Dominance
    Dec 10 2025

Welcome to Daily Faceoff Live with Tyler Yaremchuk and Carter Hutton!

We start the show with two late equalizers from the Pacific Division. Beckett Sennecke and Connor McDavid each scored in the final seconds to earn their teams' points — the Ducks won in a shootout, while the Oilers fell in overtime to the Sabres. Can we finally say the Ducks are a legitimate threat in the Pacific?

The Montreal Canadiens’ goaltending has been horrific after a red-hot start by Jakub Dobeš. Following last night’s 6–1 trouncing by the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Habs have called up 2023 third-rounder Jacob Fowler from Laval. Can his impressive AHL numbers translate to the show and keep the Habs in the Atlantic race?

Buffalo, Carolina, and Vegas all have active goaltending trios. Hutts gives his expert opinion on how this setup can impact goaltenders, and we look at which teams are making the trio work — and which ones are stuck with a troublesome three-man crease.

Steve Peters from Inside The Coaches’ Room joins us for The Film Room, where we dive into everything Central Division: the Avs–Stars race for the top spot, the surging Wild, the slumping middle pack, and the Predators in the basement.

  • Arena Anxiety: Olympic Concerns & What's Next for the Red Wings
    Dec 9 2025

Welcome to Daily Faceoff Live with Tyler Yaremchuk and Carter Hutton!

We start the show with the Toronto Maple Leafs blanking the Tampa Bay Lightning 2–0. Dennis Hildeby shone with a 29-save shutout — the first of his NHL career. Are the Leafs back in the Atlantic race?

Olympic rink concerns remain a hot-button topic, as deputy commissioner Bill Daly shared new comments on social media about the upcoming Games and the rink dimensions.

Next, it’s Yes or BS, where the guys debate whether Kiefer Sherwood is worth a first-round pick and if James Reimer could make a return to the NHL.

Jeff Marek from The Sheet joins the show to discuss the Atlantic-leading Red Wings, the possibility of Quinn Hughes heading to the Motor City, ongoing Olympic ice issues, and how Dallas might utilize their cap space with Tyler Seguin out for the season.

  • What Does an All-In Year Look Like for the Colorado Avalanche?
    Dec 8 2025

Welcome to Daily Faceoff Live with Tyler Yaremchuk and Carter Hutton!

We start Monday’s show with another edition of Man of the Weekend. There were some big performances from teams like the Anaheim Ducks and Florida Panthers — but which players impressed Hutts and Tyler the most?

Quinn Hughes trade rumours continued to swirl over the weekend. Could the Canucks make a deal with the Devil(s) and unite all three Hughes brothers on one team?

Speaking of New Jersey, the Devils and Seattle Kraken are both on five-game slides that have knocked them out of playoff spots. Which team’s slump is more concerning?

Jesse Montano from Guerilla Sports joins the show for The All 32 to talk about the NHL’s top team, the Colorado Avalanche.

We discuss the Avs’ goalie tandem, the Central Division fight, Nathan MacKinnon, and the potential for a postseason showdown between the Avs and Stars.

  • Back on Track? Are the Oilers & Leafs Ready for a Heater?
    Dec 5 2025

Welcome to Daily Faceoff Live with Tyler Yaremchuk and Carter Hutton!

We open the show with the Leafs and Oilers—both fresh off big wins. Is this the beginning of a heater for two Canadian teams desperate to get rolling?

The Rangers are climbing back into the Metro playoff race after a win over Ottawa.

Their home-ice issues remain a problem, but strong road results have kept them alive. Can New York do enough to secure a playoff spot?

Hutts and Tyler dig into a round of fun Over/Unders:

O/U 3.5 Canadian teams making the playoffs

O/U 50% odds Matvei Demidov wins the Calder

O/U 50% chance a Pennsylvania team reaches the postseason

Then, Steven Ellis from Daily Faceoff joins for The Next Wave to talk about some of the up and coming names around the hockey world.
