After high school in Venezuela, he received a scholarship in the UK, graduating in 1999, just as dictator Chavez was seizing control of his home country. He's lived and worked in the oil industry in the US, the Netherlands, Denmark, UK, Brazil, and finally moved to Salt Spring at the beginning of 2023.
