Hey Blue Devils, it's Jenny with your Campus Update for November 10 through November 17. Let's get you set for the week—fast. First up—the "Invented at Duke" event is happening Tuesday, November 11, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. This annual celebration showcases Duke inventors and their breakthroughs. President Vincent E. Price and Professor Ken Gall will be speaking. It's a great chance to see innovation in action. Next—on Thursday, November 13, from 5:15 to 6 p.m., the Duke Chamber Music Program is performing in the Biddle Music Building lobby. It's part of the Fountain Music Series and a perfect way to unwind with some live tunes. And—on Saturday, November 15, at 7 p.m., the Duke Chinese Music Ensemble is holding its fall concert at the Nelson Music Room in the East Duke Building. Experience traditional Chinese instruments and melodies right here on campus. This past Saturday, our football team faced a tough loss against the UConn Huskies, with a final score of 37-34. Quarterback Darian Mensah threw for 222 yards and three touchdowns, while running back Nate Sheppard added 100 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Despite the strong performances, UConn clinched the win with a late touchdown. Looking ahead, our men's basketball team is set to play Western Carolina on Saturday, November 15, at Cameron Indoor Stadium. It's the season opener, so let's pack the stands and show our support. On Friday, November 14, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., there's a discussion titled "Rediscovering Lost Archives: The Autobiography of Omar ibn Said" at the Ahmadieh Family Conference Hall. Professor Mbaye Lo will lead the talk on Said's writings and legacy. It's a unique opportunity to delve into historical narratives. Also, the Midday Meander at the Sarah P. Duke Gardens is happening Thursday, November 13, from 12:15 to 1 p.m. It's an informal guided tour where you can learn about the gardens' plants and ask questions. A perfect midday break to connect with nature. This week in Durham, expect mostly sunny skies with temperatures ranging from the upper 40s to low 60s. It's going to be breezy and chilly, especially early in the week, so bundle up. Also, be aware of a high fire threat due to gusty winds and low humidity on Tuesday and Wednesday. Your move: Attend the "Invented at Duke" event on Tuesday, November 11, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. It's a fantastic opportunity to witness innovation firsthand and network with Duke inventors.
