Peter: The same way we get to know each other on this Earth as friends is similar to the way we get to know the God of the universe – through conversation and time. I have always been drawn to the Gospel stories such as "The Road to Emmaus" and "The Transfiguration" because the apostles accompany Jesus to a destination. For anyone who has been destined for anywhere, you spend a lot of time in conversation with people around you. It's this equation of conversation + time that equals relationship. This podcast is a conversation, not an interview – because real people have conversations, they don’t interview each other. That is the aim of the "Engaged By The Spirit" podcast: to spend time in conversation with each other to share stories, ideas, and glorify God. I never imagined I would live in five different U.S. states, let alone the Vatican City-State, but that is what the Lord had in store for me. As a result, I have met hundreds of incredible and fascinating people. Just when I think my cup of friends is full, it overflows with another community of people. Most recently, joining the Air Force as a chaplain has my cup running over again. This podcast is all about getting to know a huge variety of people, and about how when the Holy Spirit locked onto them, and engaged them in the Divine Life… it changed everything!     It’s time for the third episode of “Engaged By The Spirit,” where our host Fr. Peter Julia talks with Mater Dei Radio’s own Brenda Aikin.

    Brenda is the host of “The Morning Blend” - broadcast live each weekday - and “View from the Pew,” which she hosts with her husband Deacon Scott.

    Brenda and Fr. Peter have an incredible discussion about her vocation as a wife and mother, the surprising path that led her to Catholic media, and why she is grateful for life even after tragedy.

    This was the very first test episode that we filmed for “Engaged By The Spirit” back in the spring. The exact day will be very apparent if you watch the video!

    While some production elements were still being finalized when we filmed this episode, we wanted to share this heartfelt and inspiring conversation with you.

    Fr. Randy opens up about how his struggles early in life led to his vocation, the importance of knowing our identity, and why we need to give God control.

    Fr. Randy and Fr. Peter also share hopes for their current ministry and memories of their time in seminary.
