  • Episode 46 - we had a bad walk
    Jun 9 2025

This week, Sonny and I had a "bad walk". You might reframe it as a walk with a teenaged dog. Little, if anything went to plan. He paid me almost no attention.

How did we get there? What happened? How did we handle it? What do we do next? All these questions are considered and answered in this episode.

  • Episode 45 - should my dog play fetch?
    Mar 31 2025

Should I play fetch with my dog? Seems simple, right? Not so much. As with many things, there is a lot of nuance to it. Over the last weekend, there was an opinion piece, circulated widely, suggesting we shouldn't. As always, someone else had a different opinion.

The two articles are held in the link below with all the relevant contact details of the people who wrote the original pieces.

  • Episode 44 - with Elle Williams
    Dec 17 2024

This week we have guest Elle William.

Elle is a certified professional dog trainer knowledge accessed, fear free certified trainer, and the founder of Give a Sit Dog training in Southern California USA.

Although a relatively new trainer, she's taken great pride in the education and experience she crammed into the past five years of dog and human training. Her training methods are strictly reward based, with a strong emphasis on welfare, communication and the feeling of safety. She equally considers the human clients need to be heard, understood and rewarded for the efforts they put in.

Reactivity is her passion, admittedly an obsession. And with the rise of social media becoming a go to source for advice on how to train a reactive dog, Elle has joined in with many other reinforcement based educators with her comedic style approach to exposing the pit falls of inhumane methods and training tools, while advocating for effective science based dog training.

  • Episode 43 - with Leeron Liftik
    Nov 12 2024

My guest this week is Leeron Liftik, a trainer and behaviour consultant in California. Leeron has extensive experience with shelter dogs and we had a really cool conversation.

"Dogs are dogs; let them be that. The area I am called on most frequently to support is helping medium and high-drive personality working breeds to integrate into companion-level homes. My approach is creating change at an emotional level to impact behaviours informed by the resilience conditioning framework. By focusing on holistically meeting the animal's needs from an integrative platform, any maladaptive coping mechanisms inherently become obsolete. I maintain specialty in treating fear-based behaviours, aggression, separation related behaviours and gestational development for puppies. I work with dogs from all sorts of background but far and away have the most experience with shelter and rescue animals and they represent my preferred population."

You can reach him via his Facebook page.
