It is definitely not a Rivalry but at the end of FAMU’s time in the MEAC one of the must watch games was North Carolina Central.

This game was good for a close outcome and was the game that many of us predicted would be the matchup for the Celebration Bowl.

Well the Celebration Bowl predictions proved to be just that, but we do get what could be a battle between two of the top teams in HBCU football .

Additionally the fact that this is camp season has resulted in a few student athletes receiving an offer to continue playing sports at the Highest of Seven Hills.

Let's talk about it so we can have a little distraction from what else is going on about FAMU.

“Keep knocking at the Devil’s Door and eventually he will answer you” is my favorite quote from the movie Four Brothers and last year FAMU had Mississippi Valley answer the calls that this team would not lose to Valley; better yet end a streak against the likes of MVSU.

Well the Rattlers will be traveling to Atlanta to play against MVSU in the Benz.

Last time FAMU played in the Benz it was a great celebration for many that culminated in the end of an era.

Additionally we have seen that the President that many did not want has been approved by the Florida BOG, drawing comparisons to the late FSU president Thrasher.

FAMU and Alabama State is the best little rivalry that most people sleep on in the SWAC. These two schools are so similar and are closer than most people realize.

The two schools also have histories that are at times shared or mirror each other.

Also Coaches have camps which have been fruitful in the past couple of days.

The Baseball team has had multiple commitments and the Football team continues to pack what seems to be an overly filled locker room.

FAMU came out of yesterday's BOT meeting with a ton of frustration on some issues but also some much needed transparency on other issues.

And of course the conversation over the President elect’s contract caused a good amount of consternation.

But the clock keeps ticking and the question of what would the SWAC be without FAMU?

FAMU continues to be the news source that keeps giving all this while FAMU has a track athlete competing at the National Level and we look to the third game of the football season which will be against the Albany State University Golden Rams.

FAMU vs FAU is the second game of the season and both teams are battling for supremacy in the classroom and on the field.

Back to back weeks in which FAMU will be playing games in South Florida but this time against a program which should prove to be a formidable foe and who may even be more talented than FAMU.

We also find ourselves in a place as FAMU Alumni that we ask the question if unification with other schools works well.

The Orange Blossom Classic is the season opener and what is Miami without a good party?

But the party only goes well if we win and the last time FAMU played Howard it was for the Celebration Bowl in Atlanta at the end of the Season.

This time the team opens the season in a rivalry which will allow the fans between the two schools to show who has the better party and who has the better team.

We also have seen additions to the other sports that may excite the base.

FAMU will be in A and the MIA.

For the third or fourth time this year FAMU seems to have recruited QB 1.

This time it looks like Jett Peddy might be the man who will lead the team in Orange and Green.

Also many FAMUANS are doing the Texas Two-Step in Frisco, Texas at the NAA Convention.

Let us hope that funds get raised and the big money donors decide to leave some funds for Mother FAMU.

A tough way to finish a season for the FAMU baseball team ends what was an exhilarating season. Despite the best wishes of the FAMU faithful the season has come to an end.

The other sports have been working to rebuild the rosters, basketball landed a 6’11 Center and football has made a concerted effort to retake South Florida for the Orange and the Green.

Good Times for a Good Distraction.
