  • Home for the Holidays Part 3: A Moment with Melissa - From Messy to Merry
    Nov 3 2025

In our third Home for the Holidays episode, Gretchen and Jennifer sit down with their friend Melissa Capps, owner of Simple Spaces, to talk about what it really looks like to stay organized through the holiday season and beyond.

Melissa shares practical, doable tips for managing the chaos of decorating, hosting, and keeping your home feeling peaceful and functional. Together, we dive into the ideals we all picture this time of year… cozy, perfectly styled, stress-free… and the reality of everyday life with families, messes, and full schedules.

We also dive into family traditions — the ones lovingly passed down through generations — and the complicated feelings that can come with inheriting sentimental items that don’t fit your current space or lifestyle. How do you make choices that honor your family’s history while still creating peace and simplicity in your own home? This episode is full of laughter, honesty, and permission to make the season truly your own.

    Oct 27 2025

When it comes to holiday preparations, are you a methodical list maker like Gretchen, or are you more scattered and spontaneous like Jennifer? Do you put up the Christmas tree before or after Thanksgiving? Is your Christmas card picked out by October or are you taking family selfies in the second week of December?

No matter where you land in the spectrum of planning and preparing, we believe that there’s grace and opportunity to delight in this special time of year!

  • Home for the Holidays Part 1: Initial Preparations - Reflections + Conversations
    Oct 20 2025

While the pumpkins are still on your porch, it seems like a good time to think ahead about how to intentionally prepare our homes and hearts for the holiday season.

Introducing a new series called Home for the Holidays, Gretchen and Jennifer reflect on their childhood experiences of the season and how those memories have impacted their orchestration of traditions with their own families.

We also discuss the importance of asking questions and having conversations with our children and spouse to see what traditions, menu items, experiences (and even decorations) matter to them. Are we needlessly spending energy on certain things because we have wrongly assumed that everyone expected or valued them? There’s only one way to find out!

Cultivating an atmosphere of sacredness in our homes is a way to push back darkness and reclaim light and life for ourselves and all who enter, whether for spouse, child, or guest. And at the same time, we are invited into a divinely intimate communion with the Father, where the washing of each dish, the folding of another towel, the hundredth tidying of the living room… we offer ourselves in worship. And He sees.
