  • 976. Insights: Designing accessible fintech products for those with learning disabilities with Project Nemo
    Jul 3 2025
About this episode: How accessible do you think financial services are? For many with a disability the answer is probably not that accessible. In this very special episode, Benjamin Ensor, Director of Research and Strategy at 11:FS, is joined by Project Nemo: an organisation working to highlight accessibility challenges across financial services and bring together the tools of fintech to help solve these problems. Over one and a half million people in the UK experience some form of learning disability, making accessible banking a global imperative. Not all disabilities are visible, and they encompass a broad spectrum of challenges faced by those with disabilities. Some of these include difficulties accessing technologies, cognitive impairments, or increased susceptibility to fraudsters and scammers. We hope that by the end of this episode you’ll know exactly what Project Nemo is, and what does it mean when we say we should "be more Nemo"? This week's guests: Joanne Dewar - Co-founder of Project Nemo, Hannah Darley - Senior Director of Strategy at CI&T Kathryn Townsend - UK Government Disability & Access Ambassador for the Banking Sector and Head of Customer Vulnerability, Access and Inclusion, at Nationwide Building Society.
