Ken Seiling dropped out of a promising teaching career for a life in public service. That leap of faith was daring and, some would say, ill advised at the time. When you know your passion though, you really must serve it, and that’s what Ken did.

He served the Region of Waterloo for almost five decades, building one of the most successful regions in North America.

We could classify him as a founder, we could also classify him as a musician, but his greatest talent was as a community builder. And what a builder he was.

his choirs or musical productions, you would think he was just a regular

guy. A common theme I find in the interviews we do is that the people

who make the greatest impact on people’s lives have no clue they are

doing it. They also don’t think they are that good. Barry is one of

those guys. He's singing’s unsung hero. A man who challenged others,

who gave them opportunities and who made it hard to quit. Barry follows

his own drummer, like most of us founders and musicians, and his life

story is an excellent example of someone who has found his life.
