Francis Henson on Content vs. Intent, Big Feelings, and Effect of Language on Social Identity

  • Résumé

  • Alex and Karen are joined this week by musician, writer, teacher and certified fashionista (at least in Karen’s mind) Francis Henson! He brings with him a lot of great topics for them to dive into, like the idea of artistic identity as intent rather than content; our connection to music and art in adolescence; and music as a study of humanity. They explore Francis’ globetrotting childhood that began in The Philippines and brought him to Kazakhstan before ending up here in Vancouver, and talk about what effects that had on his understanding of himself and the world around him. And if that wasn’t enough, they also have a very impassioned discussion about fashion and the trends that they love to hate.
