The people are sentenced to wander for 40 years while a generation dies off.Joshua 6 (ESV)6 Now Jericho was shut up inside and outside because of the people of Israel. None went out, and none came in. 2 And the Lord said to Joshua, “See, I have given Jericho into your hand, with its king and mighty men of valor. 3 You shall march around the city, all the men of war going around the city once. On the seventh day, you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets.Joshua 6:9 (ESV)9 The armed men were walking before the priests who were blowing the trumpets, and the rear guard was walking after the ark, while the trumpets blew continually.Leading by Faith – I thought they’d fall by nowYou’ve been walking for a long time waiting on God’s miracles, and you’re losing your strength to keep walking.Joshua 6:3 (ESV)2 And the Lord said to Joshua, “See, I have given Jericho into your hand, with its king and mighty men of valor. 3 You shall march around the city, all the men of war going around the city once. As soon as the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the people shouted a great shout, and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they captured the city.

    Leadership Lessons From Joshua

Message Title: Leading With Obedient Faith

The name “Joshua” is the Greek form of the Hebrew name “Jesus,” both of which mean “Jehovah is salvation.”

    Joshua 1:1–2, (NIV)

“After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, the Lord said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ assistant: ‘Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them—to the Israelites…’”

True leadership begins with courageous obedience to God’s Word.

Leadership begins long before the title; it begins with faithfulness in obscurity.

    Joshua 1:6 (NIV)

“Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.”

    Joshua 1:7 (NIV)

“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you…”

    Joshua 1:9 (NIV)

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged…”

Leadership requires doing what God says even when you don’t know how it will turn out.

God didn’t give Joshua a battle plan — He gave him a Bible plan.

    Joshua 1:8 (NIV)

“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night.”

You lead best when you lead from the Word.

Without God’s truth, courage turns into pride or foolish risk.

But with God’s truth, courage becomes faithfulness in action.
