  • Surviving Picky Eating & Children's Multivitamins
    Jul 23 2025

Grace had a solid week with her brother coming into town and her and her oldest harvesting their very first zucchini of the season. They immediately made zucchini muffins to share with their friends. Sarah may have been tempted more times than she wants to admit by some chocolate chip cookies she made - to the extent of making herself feel like a bad mom when she - may have - eaten a cookie promised to her oldest. But don’t worry, Nora was the real winner when she got a fresh baked cookie out of the oven. Then Grace had quite the scare this week - that almost caused her to call 911 - when her husband didn’t return from his backpacking trip when she was expecting. Thankfully, it was just a big miscommunication.

This week’s Book Club for 1 novel is a 4/5 stars read according to Grace, which says a lot considering that’s basically the highest rating she ever gives. Then Grace and Sarah dive into some of the things they’ve learned to best support and encourage their children with eating and trying new foods, as well as some hacks to help your kids get the nutrients that they need. Then if you feel similarly to Grace and Sarah - that your children may not have the most well-balanced diet - be sure to tune in as Sarah and Grace share what they’ve learned about children's multivitamins and their experiences with a few different brands. Sarah shares a shredded BBQ chicken recipe that would be great for someone who likes to go a little more light on the BBQ sauce but also enjoys a good slider. And Grace shares the viral Tik Tok marry me chicken that is sure to impress when hosting. No matter how you’re doing motherhood, we’re rooting for you!

  • The Hard Parts of Motherhood
    Jul 16 2025

Sarah hasn’t quite recovered from her family trip last week, but she is optimistic she may be more with it next week. In the midst of Sarah’s frazzlement and her children’s evening swim lessons she broke down and did something - grocery related - that she’s never done before. And Sarah gives a speech update on her oldest. Grace has been pleasantly surprised and appreciative of her husband taking up the habit of making their bed in the mornings and hopes it continues

This week’s Book Club for 1 novel may be more of a book not to read than a book to read. Then Grace and Sarah get real about some of the things they miss from before motherhood as well as some things that are just hard about being moms. Sarah shares a chicken lasagna that is helping her hit her spinach goals. And Grace brings egg roll in a bowl to the table. No matter how you’re doing motherhood, we’re rooting for you!

    Jul 9 2025

Sarah is back from visiting her in-laws at the lake and she’s excited to share all about it! Grace had a quintessential summer-y week with her family consisting of hikes, snow cones, and tie dye. And the only nays are things Sarah can do the next time she’s at the lake.

Grace steps away from her go-to genre of contemporary romance for this week’s moving, thought-provoking Book Club for 1 novel. • Extracurricular Activities for Our Kids
    Jul 3 2025

Grace came equipped with a few nays this week - one of which being a nay that kind of turned into a yay as her friends rallied around her. To Sarah’s delight, imaginative play has been in full force at her house this week. And her nay might just be the nay of all moms out there - the fact that she does not have a house cleaner.

Grace is feeling a bit of an itch to participate in a week long murder mystery based upon this week’s Book Club for 1 novel. And Grace and Sarah share their experiences with putting their oldest kids in extracurricular activities - from why they even wanted to put their children in activities to begin with to what activities their kids have had exposure to so far. They also share some of the fears they have like how to make sure to expose their kids to things they will love but - at the same time - not over scheduling. Then switch up your dinner rotation with a crowd pleaser dinner from Sarah and a solid comfort meal from Grace. No matter how you’re doing motherhood, we’re rooting for you!

  • Birth Order
    Jun 25 2025

Grace made an exciting new purchase this week - a meat slicer - in an attempt to feed her family less processed meats. But don’t worry, Sarah has questions! Then Sarah gets a little vulnerable about her daughter’s speech progression. Whether you are a mom navigating a child’s potential diagnosis or a mom whose heart hurts when seeing your child work so hard at something they struggle with - you’re not alone. And, unfortunately, it is now Grace’s turn for some car troubles.

If we didn’t know better, one might actually think Sarah may have read this week’s novel for Book Club for 1. Grace and Sarah are both personally intrigued by birth order - whether that be thinking about their own kids or themselves and their siblings. Sarah and Grace bring some unauthentic - but delicious - recipes this week. With chicken pad thai - peanuts optional - from Sarah. And the chicken enchilada casserole Grace’s mom always made growing up. No matter how you’re doing motherhood, we’re rooting for you!

    Jun 18 2025

Sarah and Grace relish in how fun it has been to catch up every week through doing the podcast together. And Sarah and Grace’s husband are officially on SUMMER BREAK!!! But prior to that, the stomach bug hit Sarah’s home, again, during her last week of work. Also, Grace’s oldest has a new favorite game that is both a yay and a nay for Grace.

Grace brings a heartbreaking and tender memoir this week that ends Book Club for 1 on an educational note. Grace and Sarah share what being a villager means to them and kelsewhatelse’s suggestions on how to make friends and create your own village. Sarah brings a trendy recipe this week - crispy hot honey feta chicken - to switch up your dinner rotation. And Grace brings shrimp - or whichever protein you prefer - scampi. • Make Father's Day Special
    Jun 11 2025

Grace and Sarah kick off this week with some poll results. Then, a definite highlight of Grace’s week was the alphabet date her husband planned with all things letter ‘G’. Other than hitting up the water park again this week, Sarah’s yay was just the solid weekend she had with her family. And learn why Sarah will no longer be able to use the phrase “when pigs fly” with her family. Unfortunately, Sarah’s beloved car is facing more issues this week. But she is optimistic, after Colin fixes it, that it may be a future yay.

Grace brings a book that is being turned into a major motion picture for Book Club for 1 this week. And Grace and Sarah talk all things Father’s Day. They share some of the things they’re planning to do for their husbands for Father’s Day. But the overall takeaway is the importance of quality time and communicating things they love and appreciate about the dads in their lives. Then switch up your dinner rotation with pulled pork bbq mac & cheese from Sarah. And Grace brings chicken katsu to the table. No matter how you’re doing motherhood, we’re rooting for you!

  • Infertility Awareness Month ft. Emily Moon
    Jun 4 2025

Cavity filling day finally arrived for Grace’s oldest! And Grace wasn’t quite as excited about it as him - he's now stoked to have metal in his mouth like his friends. Grace got to visit her siblings, parents, and celebrate her brother’s high school graduation in South Carolina this past week with the baby in tow. Red eye flights are likely no longer in her future and, PSA, double check with your airline but you can no longer check travel cribs for free. Sarah fears the end of her car that has been through so many stages of life with her - from college to being a young, single working girly to getting married and having kids - may be close to the end of the road. And, to no surprise, Sarah’s yay this week was the grand opening of the water park near her home.

In honor of Infertility Awareness Month, Grace and Sarah feel so lucky to have their friend, Emily Moon, share her infertility journey and what all really went in to her experience. Emily also shares some ways to support friends who are struggling with infertility. As a fellow reader, Emily brings Book Club for 1 this week and Grace is excited to get to be the one guessing the book title for a change. Then switch up your dinner rotation with chicken pot pie with biscuits from Emily, spinach lasagna rolls from Sarah, and grilled steaks from Grace. No matter how you’re doing motherhood, we’re rooting for you!
