  • Ep 84 | Praying for our Summer Camps
    Jun 8 2025

Camp season is upon us with over 200 young people preparing for transformative weeks away from everyday distractions. These experiences serve as the culmination of year-round ministry efforts where kids and teens can focus solely on their relationship with God.

    • Children showing increasing excitement about Bible scavenger hunts and learning Scripture
    • Youth demonstrating genuine desire to grow spiritually beyond just social activities
    • Students initiating Bible studies and discipleship opportunities with peers
    • Young people of all ages actively wanting to share Jesus with friends
    • Camp provides the environment where spiritual concepts often "click" for young people
    • Ministry happens year-round with few breaks except major holidays
    • Camp helps transform future leaders, pastors, teachers and parents
    • Volunteers play crucial role in creating safe, encouraging environments

Please pray for our campers' physical safety, spiritual receptivity, and for our volunteers to have strength and wisdom as they serve. Most importantly, pray that these young people would experience the beauty of being in God's presence.

  • Ep 83 | Sermon Spotlight | Luke 9
    Jun 1 2025

The journey of discipleship takes us from being observers to active participants in God's kingdom work, focusing on Luke 9 where Jesus equips his disciples with power and authority.

    • Luke 9 reveals how the disciples transition from following Jesus to being sent out to minister
    • Jesus gives ordinary, untrained people power and authority to heal and proclaim the kingdom
    • Moving from learning to doing requires courage and obedience, not perfect preparation
    • Many Christians feel unprepared for ministry, but God equips those He calls
    • Taking up your cross daily means giving up your life to find true life in Christ
    • The upcoming sermon series will explore discipleship themes including being sent to serve, overcoming unbelief, and the cost of following Jesus
    • God doesn't expect us to be qualified—He qualifies us through our obedience
    • The power comes not from our abilities but from Christ working through us
    • Following in Jesus's footsteps means walking His way, not creating our own path

Come join us at church this summer as we discover how to walk in the footsteps of Christ and find true rest in serving His kingdom.

  • Ep 82 | The Overlooked Sin of Sloth
    May 25 2025

Let's explore the often-overlooked sin of slothfulness and how it impacts our spiritual lives, relationships, and ability to participate in God's kingdom work.

    • Understanding slothfulness as more than just physical laziness but a spiritual posture that limits our connection with God
    • Exploring Paul's prison example—writing letters that became two-thirds of the New Testament rather than complaining about his circumstances
    • Recognizing that the opposite of slothfulness isn't exhaustion but purposeful rest
    • Practical steps to overcome slothfulness: renew your mindset about work, start small with changes, and find accountability partners
    • Finding God's purpose in everyday tasks—from laundry to homework to professional responsibilities
    • The importance of being present where God has placed you rather than wishing for different circumstances
    • How slothfulness limits our ability to hear the Holy Spirit and see what God is doing around us
    • Teaching the next generation the value and joy of meaningful work

If you're struggling with slothfulness or any other challenge, reach out to us for prayer or conversation. We're here to help each other grow in faith and purpose.

  • Ep 81 | Is Working Hard Godly?
    May 18 2025

Work is a gift from God, not a punishment from the fall, and we're called to approach it as a way to glorify Him while serving others.

    • The Bible has much to say about work throughout both the Old and New Testaments
    • Work was established before sin entered the world when Adam was instructed to tend the garden
    • Colossians 3:23 instructs us to work "heartily, as for the Lord and not for men"
    • People should recognize us as Christ's disciples by our works and love for others
    • It's acceptable not to be passionate about your job while still performing it excellently
    • 1 Timothy 5:8 emphasizes our responsibility to provide for our families
    • Teaching children the value of work through chores prepares them for life and develops character
    • True spiritual rest often comes through service rather than inactivity
    • Jesus modeled tireless service while still prioritizing moments of rest

Remember, our work is ultimately for God, not just for a paycheck. Whether you love your job or not, you can still use it as an opportunity to serve Christ and others through your attitude, effort, and integrity.

  • Ep 80 | What is my purpose
    May 4 2025

Life has meaning beyond achievements, possessions, and worldly success when we follow Jesus and deny ourselves. We can search for purpose everywhere, but the answer is found when we follow God's plan for our lives.

    • Purpose is the reason for which something exists or is done
    • People of all ages seek purpose, even if they don't talk about it openly
    • Solomon had everything but still found life empty without God
    • Jesus taught that we must deny ourselves and follow him to find true purpose
    • Our identity should be in Christ, not in what we do or accomplish
    • Purpose isn't about specific activities but about the heart behind them
    • God cares about our hearts and motives more than our achievements
    • Many struggle to accept that God truly loves and delights in them
    • Changing the "why" behind our actions transforms how we live

If you want to understand where meaning is, you have to know who God is, fear him, and obey him. Your purpose is found by following Jesus. Deny yourself of this world and allow yourself to follow what Christ would have for you - and there is purpose galore for your life.

  • Ep 79 | Why Does God Allow Suffering?
    Apr 27 2025

When painful questions arise about cremation, suffering, and why bad things happen, biblical truth offers comfort beyond our limited human perspective.

    • Cremation is biblically acceptable as our bodies are temporary vessels for our eternal souls
    • When we die, our souls leave our bodies to be with Jesus regardless of burial method
    • Each person should grieve in the way that best helps their healing process
    • Evil exists because humanity chose sin, breaking our perfect relationship with God
    • We face consequences not only from our own sins but from living in a fallen world
    • According to God's law, all humans are "children under wrath" in need of salvation
    • God demonstrated His love by sending Jesus to bear our punishment and redeem us
    • Romans 8:28 reminds us that God works all things together for good according to His purposes
    • Sometimes we need loving Christian community more than perfect theological answers

Let the love of Christ fully engulf you - it's interesting how many questions begin to fade when we focus on being loved by God rather than understanding everything.

  • Ep 78 | Is God Real, if so, Does He Hate Tattoos?
    Apr 6 2025

We explore what the Bible says about tattoos by examining the context of Levitical law, understanding the heart behind our choices, and addressing the fundamental question of God's existence.

    • Analyzing Leviticus 19:28 which appears to prohibit tattoos but is part of ceremonial law
    • Comparing this prohibition to other Levitical rules that Christians generally don't follow today
    • Understanding that God cares more about the heart behind our choices than external appearances
    • Sharing personal experiences with tattoos and their potential as conversation starters about faith
    • Examining evidence for God's existence through creation, human morality, and biblical testimony
    • Recognizing that simply believing God exists isn't enough—even demons believe
    • Emphasizing the importance of personal relationship with Jesus beyond intellectual assent

Come worship with us at Georgetown Baptist Church where you'll find people from all walks of life pursuing relationship with Jesus together. We care more about your heart than your appearance.

  • Ep 77 | Are Jesus Followers Narrow-Minded?
    Mar 30 2025

We dive deep into what the Bible says about gambling and tackle the challenging question of whether Christianity is too narrow-minded.

    • The Bible doesn't explicitly forbid gambling but warns against greed, get-rich-quick schemes, and poor stewardship
    • 1 Timothy 6 reminds us that "the love of money is the root of all evil."
    • Personal experiences with gambling reveal how easily it can become destructive
    • Jesus specifically says, "narrow is the path that leads to righteousness."
    • Matthew, the tax collector, found true belonging by following Jesus' narrow invitation
    • Being "narrow-minded" about following Christ actually allows us to see people more broadly
    • Christians can be secure enough in their faith to welcome questions and doubts
    • Paul boldly shared his faith with King Agrippa, wishing everyone could know the freedom he found
