What kind of mom risks her life to protect her family? A courageous one.

In this episode of the Gather Moms Podcast, we continue our Bible Moms series with the unlikely story of Rahab — a woman with a messy past who makes one bold decision that changes her family’s future forever.

Her story (Joshua 2) unfolds as Israel prepares to enter the Promised Land. Two spies arrive in Jericho, and Rahab hides them when the king comes searching. She has heard what God has done — how He parted the Red Sea and delivered His people — and in a pivotal moment, she chooses Him.

This isn’t comfortable belief.
It’s costly faith.

The spies tell her to hang a scarlet cord from her window as a sign. And just like the blood over the doorposts in Egypt, that red cord becomes a symbol of rescue. Her household is spared.

And here’s the twist: Rahab doesn’t just survive. She becomes part of Jesus’ family tree.

Her story reminds us that you don’t have to come from faith to leave a legacy of faith.

This episode is for the mom who feels like the first one — the one choosing courage when it would be easier to blend in.

You may not control the culture around you.

What kind of mom puts her baby in a river? A faithful one.

In this episode of the Gather Moms Podcast, we continue our Bible Moms series with the powerful story of Jochebed — Moses’ mother — and what her courage teaches us about doing what we can… and trusting God with the rest.

Her story (Exodus 1:22–2:10) unfolds under a terrifying decree: every Hebrew baby boy is to be thrown into the Nile. Jochebed hides her son for three months. When she can’t hide him any longer, she builds a waterproof basket, places him strategically among the reeds, and stations her daughter nearby to watch.

This isn’t reckless surrender. It’s intentional faith.

And here’s the detail you may have never noticed: the word used for “basket” is the same word used for Noah’s ark. Moses is placed into a mini-ark — another story of God rescuing someone through water in the midst of evil.

Hebrews 11 tells us she acted by faith. She did not fear the king’s edict. She feared God more. And though she gets her son back for a season, she eventually has to release him again — raising him only to let him go.

Her story holds both grief and joy in the same hand.This episode is for moms learning to surrender outcomes they can’t control. You may not determine the ending — but you can build the basket.

Motherhood reveals our insecurities. One minute we feel confident and steady, and the next we’re wondering if we’re the “less than” version of someone else. In this episode of the Gather Moms Podcast, we continue our Bible Moms series by stepping into the complicated, emotional story of Leah—a woman who knew what it felt like to be overlooked, unloved, and second best.

Leah’s story (Genesis 29–30) reads like a reality TV drama: family deception, sibling rivalry, sister wives, competition for affection, and a whole lot of baby naming that doubles as emotional journaling. Married through trickery and constantly compared to her beautiful sister Rachel, Leah spends years longing for her husband’s love. But as she begins having children, something powerful happens—her heart slowly shifts.

At first, Leah names her sons out of her pain: “The Lord has seen my misery.” “The Lord heard that I am unloved.” “Now my husband will love me.” But eventually, her focus changes. With the birth of Judah, she says, “This time I will praise the Lord.” Her circumstances haven’t improved. Jacob still favors Rachel. The rivalry hasn’t disappeared. But Leah’s heart has turned toward trust instead of striving.

And here’s the beautiful twist: Jesus doesn’t come from Rachel’s line. He comes from Leah’s. The Lion of Judah is born from the life of the overlooked wife. God brings redemption right through the middle of her mess.

This episode is an invitation for moms who feel unseen, compared, or stuck in hard seasons to remember that God sees, God hears, and God works through imperfect stories. Your circumstances may not change overnight—but your focus can. And sometimes praise is the first step toward peace.
