  • CUTTing BOARD
    Nov 17 2025

Forty years ago, a band burst onto the Sunset Strip scene with a sound that was raw, powerful, and undeniably metal. That band was Rough Cutt, and their self-titled debut album became an instant classic, produced by Tom Allom—the man behind the board for Judas Priest and Def Leppard and having the legendary Ronnie James and Wendy Dio co-writing the track "Take Her."

Fast forward to 2025, and founding drummer Dave Alford has put together Rockin' Dave's Rough Cutt to celebrate 40 years of amazing Rough Cutt music. He's surrounded himself with very talented musicians who deliver Rough Cutt music at the highest level—frontman Scott Board from No Love Lost with his incredible vocal range, a new twin-axe attack duo and Dave himself delivering the thunder.

Today we've got Dave and Scott right here to talk about the band's history, working with Dio, Scott stepping in for Paul Shortino, new music, and a possible 2026 tour and new music that's going to remind the world why Rough Cutt still matters.

So listen up, things are about to get ROUGH!

As a son of a Vietnam Veteran, I have witnessed first hand how Veterans don't get the recognition or benefits they need here in the our country. After everything they've sacrificed, too many struggle to access healthcare, housing, and the support they deserve.

Navy Veteran AJ Fratto is not only a former aviation rescue swimmer (AIRRS), but also a talented music performer with an impressive career. He's been involved with Queensryche and was a guest on the American Soldier album in 2009. AJ also operates a non-profit organization that helps rescue pitbulls, helps veterans receive benefits and supports women of sexual assault in the workplace.

Supporting veterans like my father and AJ means standing up for the people who stood up for us. We can and must do better for our veterans.

I hope you enjoy this episode.

    Happy Veterans Day!

  • No Bad Blood Between Us
    Nov 10 2025

Today, host Joe Augustine becomes a fan boy when he interviews special guest, Ron Freschi, guitarist from the band Babylon A.D. Now, if you remember their debut, you know they could throw down. But it was their sophomore album, 'Nothing Sacred,' that really showed what this band was made of.

This record gave us two top-ten metal singles—'Bad Blood' and 'So Savage the Heart'—tracks that should've been spinning in every tape deck and CD player from coast to coast. Heavily influenced by the rock gods we all worshipped—Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, UFO—Babylon A.D. delivered big melodies, bigger riffs, and pure rock 'n' roll swagger.

'Nothing Sacred' is what a lot of us call an underappreciated gem. It hit right when the grunge wave was crashing down, but the talent and the songs? They're still undeniable.

But here's the thing—Babylon A.D. isn't just living in the past. They're still out there doing what they do best: making music and hitting the road. Their new album, 'When The World Stops,' proves they've still got that fire, delivering the same high-energy rock 'n' roll that made us fall in love with them decades ago.

And that's what it's all about, folks—supporting the musicians who've given us the soundtrack to our lives, as Babylon A.D. did for host Joe Augustine during his senior year of high school. Also, our host finally finds out a burning question 35 years in the making, what does the A.D. in Babylon A.D. stand for?
