Your essential podcast for Gen X women, born 1965 to 1980, who are ready to reclaim their energy, rebalance their hormones, restore their metabolism and thrive in midlife. Each episode dives into the science of female biology in the 40s, 50s and beyond: hormones, metabolism, fasting for women, circadian rhythms, stress, cravings, muscle, mitochondria, brain health and the evidence-based strategies that actually work for midlife bodies.

Hosted by Vanessa Hitch, naturopath, clinical nutritionist, natural medicine formulator and women’s health educator with over two decades of experience in the neuro-endocrine and metabolic systems. Vanessa holds a Master of Human Nutrition, a Bachelor of Health Science (Complementary Medicine), and qualifications in naturopathy, herbal medicine and counselling. She is also a Gen X woman who deeply understands the stress, depletion, weight changes and hormonal chaos many women face in midlife.

  • 🎧 Introducing the GenX Reset Podcast – Episode 1 with Liz Dukes
    Nov 27 2025

Hi everyone, I’m Vanessa Hitch from GenX Reset and I’m excited to share our very first podcast episode. This series is all about evidence-based conversations on midlife health, metabolism, hormones and brain function, with practical strategies that work with our biology, not against it.

To kick things off, I’m talking with Liz Dukes, a highly experienced group fitness instructor and personal trainer with a Bachelor of Health Science in Food and Nutrition. Liz runs a successful practice, Liz Dukes Nutrition, and you can follow her work here:

Liz has also completed Dr Stacy Sims’ Menopause Training Program for Recreationally Active Women, and brings a grounded, realistic, midlife-aware approach to movement that I know so many women will find both refreshing and empowering.

In this episode, we unpack topics so many women are asking about right now, including:

-Why the old “eat less, exercise more” approach backfires in your 40s and 50s
-How female physiology and hormones make our exercise needs different from men’s
-What happens to muscle, metabolism and belly fat as oestrogen declines
-The role of short, sharp interval training (SIT) for visceral fat and aerobic fitness
-How to start resistance training safely in midlife and why “lifting heavy” matters
-Common midlife training mistakes that lead to injury, burnout and frustration
-Why fasted training often works against women and how to fuel before and after workouts
-Where Pilates, yoga, mobility, balance work and “movement snacks” fit in a realistic plan
-Creatine, recovery and what it really takes to stay strong, independent and active as we age

This is a practical, real-world conversation for midlife women who are tired, busy and done with confusing, conflicting fitness advice.

If you have a sister, friend or colleague in her 40s, 50s or 60s who is struggling with energy, weight or exercise, please share this episode with her.

I’d love to bring you more conversations like this.
