À propos de cet audio

There's a magical place, hidden away on Canada's East Coast called Nova Scotia, that has shaped the lives of countless people around the world. Often called Bluenosers, Nova Scotians are known for their kindness, resiliency, and a telltale gift to gab. Global Bluenosers is the story of those who have left the shores of their province to explore the world. We introduce you to the province they love by asking them one important question: "If you had only 24 Hours in Nova Scotia, what would you do?"Global Bluenosers Sciences sociales

  • Going Home is a hug for the soul I Melissa Nadeau in Toronto, Ontario
    Dec 4 2025

This week, Sean sits down with Melissa Nadeau, a proud Cole Harbour product, whose life and career have taken her from Toronto to Calgary and across the country, but whose heart remains firmly rooted in Nova Scotia.

Melissa shares her journey: growing up in Cole Harbour’s tight-knit hockey culture, becoming one of the only girls playing boys hockey at the time, adventures through St. FX, travels, career pivots, and the perspective shift that came with turning 40. She reflects on how Nova Scotia shaped her values — from community and honesty to work ethic and identity — and why every trip home still feels like a “hug for the soul.”

Full all the humour and authenticity that comes from two Bluenosers chatting, you can feel the love for Nova Scotia coming through the microphone. This is truly a conversation that highlights how Nova Scotia leaves a permanent imprint no matter how far you roam.

  • "Do you know Sidney Crosby?" I Candace Curphy in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
    Oct 30 2025

This week, Sean connects with Candace Curphy, a Nova Scotia native now living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania — the adopted home of famous Bluenoser, Sidney Crosby.

Born in Queens County and raised between the South Shore and the Valley, Candace shares stories of growing up in a two-room schoolhouse, summer days at Cameron Lake, and how the move to the U.S. reshaped her sense of identity. From volleyball courts in Pennsylvania to life in big American cities, she’s carried her Nova Scotian roots with pride — even if she had to lose the accent along the way.

Sean and Candace talk about how Home takes on new meaning once you’ve left it, the subtle things that bring it back — from hearing bagpipes at the border to seeing Kraft Dinner on the shelf — and how Nova Scotians abroad become some of the province’s greatest ambassadors.

And when given 24 hours back home? Candace’s dream itinerary includes canoeing on Cameron Lake, a stop at Summerville Beach, ice cream from Seaside Takeout, fish and chips in Lunenburg, and a night in Halifax with live music.

  • The lost art of just dropping in I Dave McIntyre in Ottawa, Ontario
    Oct 9 2025

"Home" can mean many things. And for Dave McIntyre, Home has always been Cape Breton. Even if he grew up in Ontario!

In today's episode, Sean and Dave talk about the impact of family history, family connections, and the ways that impacts our identity.

From his family ties in Glace Bay and summers spent on the banks of the Mira River, to the unplanned adventures and the storytelling spirit that defines the island, Dave shares how Cape Breton has shaped his sense of belonging, community, and joy.

He paints the picture of his perfect day back home — coffee overlooking the river, dropping in to visit family, a round of golf, and a night that ends with laughter, card games, and a couple of pints by the water.

Along the way, he reminds us that the real magic of Nova Scotia isn’t just in its scenery, but in our people — the characters, the conversations, and the kindness that always makes you feel like you’re home.
