I don’t know what Sunday was like for you, worshipping hours after news of our nation inserting itself into another violent conflict, but I often find these times to be hard and to make it difficult find or understand where God is in it all. But then, I’m reminding of where Jesus stood on issues of major disagreement and how to settle them: by seeking reconciliation. By doing the hard work of repairing relationships not the easy work of ripping them apart.

So as we continue with this series, Be, I’m reminded of those words that have echoed throughout our tradition. Be reconciled. Let’s talk about that a little bit today and see where it leads us to go and search for the divine presence in the midst of the chaos all around us.

    2 Corinthians 5:16-20, Matthew 5:21-24

The world feels beyond chaotic right now and it’s had me thinking a lot about the Church, it’s role, and even some opportunities we’re missing to be who God calls us to be in moments like these.

Three years ago, I left life as pastor. I don’t think I left pastoring, I just left getting paid for it and going to an office, but before I did, I led our congregation through a short series called BE ___.

I’ll explain a little more in the episode, and it could be a much longer series than it could, but for these next few weeks of summer, I’m revisiting those ideas and I want to do it with you. Let me know what you think!

Welcome to God Knows Where. I’m Brett Harris. In this space between the series we wrapped up last week and what’s ahead came the Sunday when we celebrate the birth of the Church: Pentecost, so I figured I’d share my take on Pentecost.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what this thing we call Church is all about, what it’s for, and what a gathered community is supposed help us do. You know? Easy questions with simple answers. More to come on all this in the weeks to come.

But for now, here’s my take on Pentecost as it relates to a different story of when the Holy Spirit arrives to the community of folks who followed Jesus after his death than the one we’re use to reading. Hope you enjoy today’s episode!
