This is an important X-Men run that redefined what Magneto could be, for good or for ill, and that means the girls have a lot to talk about. You won't want to miss our SEASON 1 FINALE: and yes, there will be a Season 2 where we WILL get to Here Comes Tomorrow.

  • Episode 13: Assault on Weapon Plus (feat. Tegan O'Neil) (New X-Men 142-145)
    Nov 12 2025

We're entering the home stretch of New X-Men and things are getting intense. This week, Josie and Becca break into The World as they launch an Assault on Weapon Plus. Luckily, they're joined by longtime comics critic, Josie's good friend Tegan O'Neil, who is here to guide our girls through the perilous journey. Did this comic change Wolverine forever, or is nothing that permanent in the world of Marvel? How does this arc serve as a foil to "Dust?" And of course, it wouldn't be Here Comes Tomorrow if Becca didn't make this about being transgender!

Content Warnings: Discussions of terrorism, fascism, transphobia

  • Episode 12: Murder at the Mansion (feat. Evan Narcisse) (New X-Men 139-141)
    Nov 5 2025

It's time for Grant Morrison to ask "whodunnit?" and your hosts to ask "why do we care?" That's right, it's Morrison's cooldown arc from the past few heavy-hitting storylines, Murder at the Mansion! But don't skip this one, listeners, because Josie and Becca are joined by an incredible guest: Marvel comics writer Evan Narcisse! Evan joins the girls to discuss this Bishop-centered story, as well as race and representation in media as a whole. How does this story show us about Grant's views on societal norms, even while trying to return the book to status quo? The real mystery is why you haven't downloaded this episode already!

    Content Warnings: Discussions of racism

  • Episode 11: Riot at Xavier's (feat. Jay Edidin) (New X-Men 134-138)
    Oct 29 2025

New X-Men is a comic about the new vs. the old, and Riot at Xavier's is that theme at its most relevant. Which is why Josie and Becca needed a very special guest: Jay Edidin of Jay and Miles X-Plain the X-Men! That's right, it's the crossover you've all been waiting for! There's so much to discuss about political and cultural frustrations as we discuss the rise and fall of the other New X-Men. And of course, you can't podcast with three trans people, two of whom did Quentin Quire cosplays, without getting into some deep thoughts on gender. Plus, Beast's sexuality gets addressed once again!

Content Warnings: Discussions of fascism, transphobia, school shootings

  • Episode 10: Dust (feat. Doc) (New X-Men 133)
    Oct 22 2025

It's time for Josie and Becca to wade into the most infamous New X-Men issue of all: Dust, 2002's post-9/11 Islamophobia whirlwind tour. So yeah, first of all, check the content warnings for this one. But secondly, and more excitingly, the girls are joined by Doc, a friend of Becca's from her Fantastic 4 blogging days. Doc is a Palestinian hijabi with a literal doctorate in medicine and a figurative doctorate in Dr. Doom, and she comes prepared with thoughts about what Dust says about the world after 2001. And she also has a bone to pick with Grant Morrison. But don't worry, there's also an exciting reveal about whether Dr. Doom is transphobic, so it all works out in the end, I guess. Girlies and queerdos alike don't want to miss this one, I promise.

Content Warnings: Discussions of Islamophobia, racism, 9/11, terrorism, rape, human trafficking, Comicsgate, transphobia, fascism

  • Episode 9: Ambient Magnet Fields (feat. Alana M. Vincent) (New X-Men 132)
    Oct 15 2025

By this point in New X-Men, it's been one year since Cassandra Nova attacked Genosha, and more importantly, one year since the real-world attacks on September 11. So it comes as no surprise that Marvel and Grant Morisson released a comic on September 11, 2002 grappling with both of those anniversaries. Josie and Becca are joined by Professor Alana M. Vincent, an expert in genocide remembrance and author of the upcoming, tentatively-titled book Magneto Was Right, to discuss this serious storyline. There's a lot of content warnings in this one, folks, but we sincerely hope you'll join us for a thoughtful conversation about genocides and atrocities of all kinds. And also, y'know, whether Logan is hot. We talk about that too.

Content Warning: Discussions of genocide, the September 11 attacks, the Holocaust, Israel-Palestine conflicts throughout history, the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, apartheid, racism, fascism, transphobia

    Oct 8 2025

World-famous, attractive, tall, and unquestionably the problem, hi, the problem, it's them...Am I talking about Taylor Swift or Scott Summers? Who can tell? This week, Josie and Becca are talking about New X-Men's new romantics in an extra-long discussion of "Some Angels Falling" with Stephanie Burt, Harvard poetry professor and author of the upcoming Taylor's Version. I mean, we get to that issue eventually, but first, a lot of asides about our favorite character who doesn't appear in this book, Kitty Pryde.
