His Girl Friday is a 1940 screwball comedy film directed by Howard Hawks and starring Cary Grant, Rosalind Russell, Ralph Bellamy, and Gene Lockhart. It came out on January 18, 1940 and is an adaptation of the 1928 play The Front Page. It features Grant as a conniving newspaper editor looking to woo Russell, his ex-wife and former star reporter, in the midst of breaking news.
