The 'Get Girl' Gene Tierney's life was seemingly equally cursed and blessed. Born into high society, she rebelled against life as a society wife and threw herself into acting. Hollywood soon fell in love with her staggering beauty, but the studios soon began to push her to intense dieting, taking up smoking and, eventually, alcoholism to deal with the relentless pressure. Despite the violent intensity of her psychological struggles, and a media campaign by the New York Times to destroy her, she was nominated for an Academy Award. She also starred in 'Laura', playing one of the most influential and mysterious characters in movie history.
