  • AUTHOR CHAT with Rachael Johns
    Jun 23 2025

With a lazy 22 published novels under her belt, Rachael Johns knows a thing or two about writing fiction for women. It was SUCH a pleasure to have her on this week to talk about the trials and tribulations of establishing herself as a working author, and what that struggle looked like before she was able to finally break through. This is a must-listen for anyone who's dreamed of getting published!

We'll also discuss her latest rom-com The Bad Bridesmaid which I absolutely devoured.

Rachael has a new fan in me, and I know you'll fall in love with her too :)

  • 'Materialists' with Damaris Treasure
    Jun 19 2025

This week we welcome Hopeless Romantic newbie Damaris Treasure as we unpack Celine Song's 'Materialists' which is currently in cinemas.

We explore themes of love, security, and the complex decisions we make in relationships. This is less of a review, and more of a rumination on some of the confronting questions this film poses, as well as the way this film was (perhaps unfairly, but intentionally) market as a rom-com. Then of course there's some very shallow reflections (from me) on the appeal of Pedro Pascal.

  • AUTHOR CHAT with Amy Matthews
    Jun 6 2025

I am delighted to welcome Amy Matthews to the podcast, who is not only an award-winning author but also an Associate Professor in Creative Writing at Flinders University. Long story short? This woman knows (and loves) talking romance. Under her many pen names she's written titles such as 'Someone Else's Bucket List', 'Best, First and Last', 'The McBrides of Montana' series and the 'Frontiers of The Heart' series.

In this episode we discuss the evolution of Amy's career from literary fiction to becoming a prolific romance writer, the process of crafting compelling romantic stories, and the joy of immersing ourselves in research.

I just finished her latest novel 'Best, First and Last' and I highly recommend you get around it. Having said that, there are no book spoilers until around 30 minutes into the episode so you're all good to just dive in to hear a great chat between two romance lovers.

Love you, more than a friend x

  • 'The Devil Wears Prada' with Steph Monks
    May 23 2025

Come for the Miranda Priestly chat...stay for the deep heart to heart about how it feels to be a woman in the workplace who is JUST TRYING HER BEST!

Broadcaster Steph Monks joins me this week! This episode was kinda like therapy for both of us (which is always a good thing!) In it we discuss:

    • Our surprising levels of empathy towards Miranda Priestley
    • How Adrian Grenier isn't really as much of the villain is we originally thought
    • Our own experiences of finding, harnessing and sometimes being scared of power in the workplace.

You'll also notice a bonus episode which I've uploaded this week about Steph and my experiences of returning to our careers post-motherhood. I figured that given this is a romance podcast and not a parenting podcast, I'd make it available separately to those who wanted it!

  • BONUS EP : The juggle/struggle of career and motherhood with Steph Monks
    May 23 2025

Before we actually got to our 'Devil Wears Prada' deep dive, Steph and I found ourselves deep in a 15 minute discussion about Steph's return to work when her son Rocco was just three months old. What followed was, what I believe is an important discussion around this impossible juggle. The constant push and pull of guilt and grief.

While not exactly very 'romantic' I still feel like a lot of you will relate to the chat, so I wanted to included it anyway.

    You're doing great x
