A joint Dutch white paper by the DCRO and DJI examines the probability of drone flyaways, finding it significantly lower (100 times) than current regulatory estimates based on JARUS guidelines. The research, using 1.4 million flight hours of data from professional operators and DJI, concludes that the risk of a drone leaving its operational area is approximately one in 100,000 flight hours, and a flyaway is one in a million.
