Penn State has fired football head coach James Franklin leaving Nebraska's head coach Matt Rhule as the leading candidate to replace him. Coach Rhule grew up a Penn State fan, he's a graduate of Penn State, and a former walk on linebacker with the Nittany Lions. In his press conference on Monday, October 13, Coach Rhule could have put to rest rumors of him leaving the Husker's head coaching position by stating he was staying at Nebraska. While saying he is happy at Nebraska, he did not say he was staying. Coach Rhule expressed his deep love for Penn State but tempered those statements by saying how much he liked being at Nebraska.
It doesn't take a body language or statement analysis expert to conclude coach Rhule will likely accept the Penn State football head coaching position if offered. He spoke in the past tense about wanting to live in Nebraska and rebuild the football program. It seems clear the Penn State football head coaching position is Matt Rhule's dream job and no one should fault him for accepting the position.
