  • S4 - EP 2 - HEAVEN'S GATE
    Nov 14 2025

    Welcome to Season 4 - Episode 2!

    **THIS EPISODE HAS SOUND ISSUES**

This week, we're going to blast off (literally) into one of the strangest true stories in American history: Heaven’s Gate.

In 1997, 39 people dressed in identical black outfits and Nike Decades “left their vehicles” in hopes of catching a ride on a UFO trailing the Hale–Bopp comet. Behind the headlines were Marshall Applewhite (a fallen preacher’s kid turned prophet) and Bonnie Nettles (a nurse turned spiritual guide) who built a belief system that mixed Theosophy, UFOs, and the Book of Revelation into one cosmic cocktail of control.

Sal is with me again to unpack how it started with a Presbyterian boy from Texas and a New Age nurse...and how it ended, with purple shrouds, poisoned applesauce, and a spaceship that never came.

Grab your drink, and let’s talk about the cult that tried to evacuate Earth, the poison in this episode is the Cosmonaut.

If you want to drink with us, you will need lime juice, vodka, cardamom bitters, ginger liquer.

The recipe for the Cosmonaut is as follows:

    • 1 1/2 oz La Poire Flavored Vodka
    • 1 dash Cardamom Bitters
    • 1 oz Lime juice
    • 3/4 oz Ginger Liqueur

Fill cocktail shaker with ice, add ingerdients, shake ingredients until chilled. Strain into cocktail glass over an ice sphere. Optional: Garnish with a candy dusted grape.

    Enjoy!

    Oct 31 2025

    Welcome to Season 4 - Episode 1!

This Halloween, we’re back — and we’re not just telling a ghost story, we’re living one.

Join me! I'm with Sal as we record inside the infamous Congress Plaza Hotel in downtown Chicago. A place that’s been called one of the most haunted hotels in America. From shadowy hallways to creaking elevators, we’re chasing the same whispers that terrified guests for over a century.

I’ll share why this city feels like it was built on “sour ground.” And Sal? He'll be right there with me as we explore the hotel that tourists say you should never spend the night in. You’ll hear it all — straight from inside the Congress Plaza itself..

The spirits aren't the only things restless, the spirit we'll be drinking in this episode is the Penicillin.

If you want to drink with us, you will need ginger, honey, lemon juice, ginger-honey syrup, blended and single malt scotch whiskey.

The recipe for the Penicillin is as follows:

    • 1/4 oz single malt scotch
    • 3/4 oz Lemon juice
    • 3/4 oz honey-ginger syrup
    • Garnish with candied ginger

Fill cocktail shaker with ice, add ingerdients (except candied ginger), shake ingredients until chilled. Strain into cocktail glass over fresh ice. Garnish with candied ginger.
