In this uproarious tale, Pleusicles is desperately in love with Philocomasium, but their romance takes a turn for the worse when she is kidnapped by the boastful Pyrgopolinices. Palaestrio, Pleusicles devoted servant, witnesses the abduction and rushes to inform his master, only to be caught by pirates and forced into servitude under Pyrgopolinices himself.
