Lewis Ransome Freeman (1878 – 1960), an American explorer, journalist, and war correspondent, penned over twenty books detailing his extensive travels. As a lieutenant in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve during 1917-18, Freeman served as a correspondent with the Grand Fleet and was a member of the Inter-Allied Naval Armistice Commission that journeyed to Germany in 1918.
