  • 2/28 Mississippi Weather: Dense Fog Advisory
    Feb 28 2026
Good morning. Maine. I'm DJ Huzz. That cold front that blew through yesterday? It left behind air so dry you could practically hear it crackle. and now the sun's going to work on it. In the next 24 hours. Dense fog's hugging the ground across south-central Mississippi and the Gulf Coast this morning. If you're driving near Hattiesburg or along the coast before 9 A.M., flip on those low beams and take it easy. Visibility's down to a quarter mile in spots. Once that fog burns off, we're talking gorgeous. Northern Mississippi climbs to 75 degrees under brilliant sunshine. Central areas hit 77 degrees with barely a whisper of wind. Down along the Gulf Coast, you're looking at 72 degrees and mostly sunny skies. Perfect day to knock out some yard work or just sit outside with your coffee. Tonight stays clear wall to wall. Lows drop to 47 degrees up north, 49 degrees central. and 54 degrees along the coast. Leave a window cracked — it's that kind of night. Sunday keeps the spring preview rolling. Mostly sunny skies statewide. Central Mississippi reaches 79 degrees. Northern areas hit 74 degrees. The Gulf Coast stays pleasant at 70 degrees. Here's your week ahead. High pressure parks over us through Wednesday, pushing temps into the low 80s by Thursday. Our dry streak finally breaks Wednesday night with a slight chance of showers. Better rain chances arrive Thursday and Friday. One more thing — we're gaining nearly two minutes of daylight each day now. Sunrise is at 6:31, sunset at 5:58. The spring equinox is just 20 days out. and today already feels like a sneak peek. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. Stay safe, stay prepared. and enjoy the day.

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Mississippi Weather Podcast — it's Thursday, February 26th. Step outside right now and you'll notice something weird. It's 64 degrees. Your overnight low? Also 64. The thermometer just.. Stopped moving. But don't get comfortable.. Because storms are rolling in. Up north, you're already seeing it. Showers and thunderstorms are pushing through with a 70 percent chance today. The heaviest stuff hits around 7 this morning, then backs off by evening. High near 71 degrees. Tonight, skies start to clear and temperatures drop to 46. Central Mississippi, your turn comes this afternoon. Mostly cloudy skies now with a high near 76 degrees. But after 2 P.M., thunderstorms fire up. The peak hits around 7 tonight.. And a few of these could pack small hail. You're looking at a quarter to half an inch of rain. Overnight, temperatures settle at 55. Down on the coast, you get the late show. Partly sunny today with a high near 71. Rain chances climb after 11 tonight, peaking around 4 Friday morning at 50 percent. Watch for patchy fog toward dawn. Lows hold in the lower 60s. Friday flips the script completely. High pressure moves in with mostly sunny skies and low 70s. Then the weekend? Beautiful. Sunny and warm, with Sunday pushing near 79 degrees in central areas. That's 41 degrees to 41 degrees above normal for late February.. And spring doesn't officially start for three more weeks. Here's your heads-up for the week ahead. Friday through Sunday stays gorgeous. Early next week brings another chance for rain as a new system moves through. But we're staying mild. If you've got outdoor plans in central Mississippi this afternoon, keep one eye on the sky. Those storms should be out of here by Friday morning. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
