Tonight drops back to 71 with clouds building in again. Over on the Big Island, rain showers are drifting through this morning, especially along the Kau and Puna slopes. You're at 66 degrees now, climbing to 75 by afternoon. Scattered showers stick around with a 50 percent chance. Tonight stays mostly cloudy at 67 degrees with lingering showers. Maui gets the calmest deal. Starting at 65 degrees, you'll hit 82 by noon under mostly sunny skies. Light northeast winds around 5 miles an hour. Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Hawaii Weather Podcast — it's Thursday, February 26th. Step outside right now and you'll know exactly what February in Hawaii is supposed to feel like. Those northeast trades are doing their thing, keeping windward slopes lush while the rest of us bask in sunshine. Oahu's sitting pretty at 68 degrees this morning. You're climbing to 78 today with mostly sunny skies and that steady east breeze around 12 miles an hour. Tonight dips to 69 under partly cloudy skies. Friday bumps you up to 80 with partly sunny conditions. The Big Island's getting the wet side of those trades. Scattered showers are rolling through windward areas right now at 63 degrees. You'll see those showers stick around as you climb to 73 today. The rain finally backs off before midnight, dropping to 63. Friday turns partly sunny with a high near 76. Maui's stealing the show today. Nothing but sunshine and a high near 78, cooling to 73 by afternoon. Tonight stays mostly clear at 62 degrees. Friday brings partly sunny skies and a high near 80. Here's your week ahead. The next few days stay pleasant with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. Those trades ease Friday and Saturday, then shift southeast as a front approaches. Sunday through Tuesday could get interesting as an upper low develops near the islands. Scattered showers are possible, especially Sunday afternoon through Tuesday morning. Strong trades return by midweek. Enjoy the classic trade wind weather while it lasts. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Hawaii Weather Podcast — it's Wednesday, February 25th. Seventy degrees and clear skies right now.. But the Big Island? Absolutely drenched overnight. Rain chances there hit 99 percent around 1 A.M. That's as close to guaranteed as weather gets. Oahu and Maui catch scattered showers between 1 A.M. And 5 A.M., then sunshine takes over. Let's island hop. Oahu drops to 68 degrees around 3 A.M., climbing to 77 by noon. Northeast winds steady at 16 miles an hour. By afternoon, you're looking at full sunshine. Perfect for that midday beach walk. The Big Island tells a wetter story. Low of 64 around 3 A.M., reaching 72 by noon. Rain continues all day with cloudy skies and a 50 percent chance. Winds shift from north to northwest around 2 A.M. Keep that umbrella close. Maui sits at 64 overnight, peaking at 76 around noon before cooling to 63 by midnight. Northeast winds around 62 miles an hour, gusting higher. Mostly sunny after those early showers clear out. Now the serious part. High Surf Advisory until 6 A.M. Wednesday for north and east facing shores. Surf hits 18 to 24 feet on north shores. Strong currents and breaking waves make swimming dangerous. Stay out of the water. Here's your week ahead. Sunny to mostly sunny through Friday with temps climbing from upper 70s into low 80s. A cold front arrives Sunday bringing scattered showers that could linger into early next week. Spring equinox is three weeks out. And we're gaining over a minute of daylight each day. Sunrise at 6:56 A.M., sunset at 62 degrees:35 P.M. UV index peaks high today, so slather on that sunscreen. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
