  • 3/1 Georgia Weather 6 AM: 45° Above Normal
    Mar 1 2026
Good morning. Georgia. I'm Aaron Jolly. Folks, if you're staring out the window right now thinking your eyes haven't adjusted yet. They have. That's fog. Dense fog has draped itself across central and southern Georgia like a wet blanket. Visibility is a quarter mile or less in spots. A Dense Fog Advisory runs until 10 A.M. so if you're heading to church or brunch, slow down and leave early. In the next 24 hours. Now here's the good news. High pressure is parked right over us. Once that fog burns off by mid morning, we're talking pure sunshine and temperatures that feel like mid April. Metro Atlanta hits 76 degrees this afternoon. That's a full 45 degrees above normal for the first day of March. Head east toward Augusta and you'll touch 78. Down along the coast, the fog hangs on a little longer, but once it clears you're looking at a beautiful 73 degrees. Tonight, clouds creep back in and lows settle into the lower 50s. Enjoy every minute of it. Because tomorrow flips the script. A wedge of high pressure slides south from New England, dragging cooler air behind it. Monday's highs barely crack the lower 60s in Atlanta. Easterly winds gusting to 20 or 25 miles an hour will make it feel even chillier. That's a 45 degrees drop in one day. Quick note for central Georgia. The Oconee River near Oconee is under a Flood Warning through Tuesday evening. Minor flooding, but worth watching. Looking ahead. Tuesday and Wednesday bounce right back into the 70s. Then Thursday and Friday? Low 80s across much of the state. That's borderline summer. Rain chances return late week with a few thunderstorms possible Thursday into Saturday. One more thing worth smiling about. We're gaining over two minutes of daylight each day now. Sunrise at 7:07. Sunset at 6:35. Spring is winning. I'll be tracking that midweek warm up all week long. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. Stay safe, stay prepared. and enjoy the day.

    Feb 28 2026
Good evening. Georgia. I'm Aaron Jolly. Folks, if you stepped outside today and thought. This is perfect? You're not wrong. A big high pressure system parked right over the Southeast is giving us textbook late February beauty. Clear skies. Light winds. The kind of evening where you leave the windows cracked. In the next 24 hours. Right now Metro Atlanta is sitting at 69 degrees. Tonight drops to 48 under stars. Gentle stuff. Down in Savannah, you topped out at 65 with barely a breeze. Tonight falls to 47. and fog creeps in after 4 A.M. Keep that in mind if you're an early riser. Over in eastern Georgia, 60 degrees this afternoon. Patchy fog rolls in after midnight. and tonight dips to 45. Sunday looks even better. Atlanta climbs to 75. Savannah matches it once the fog burns off by mid morning. and eastern Georgia? Hits 78 degrees. Warmest spot in the state. Now enjoy that warmth. Because it won't last. Sunday night, a sneaky backdoor cold front slides south and sets up what we call a wedge. Cool air gets trapped east of the Appalachians. Monday morning in north Georgia, you're barely cracking the 50s. Meanwhile south Georgia hangs in the upper 60s. That's a 45 degrees split across one state. The wedge breaks Wednesday. Seventies return. Then things get wild. Thursday through next weekend, deep southwest flow pumps warm humid air northward. We're talking upper 70s to low 80s. Ten degrees above normal for early March. Scattered storms return by Thursday. and rain chances climb to likely by Friday. We gained two minutes and four seconds of daylight today. Sunset at 6:34 P.M. Spring equinox is two weeks out. I'll be tracking that cold front all night. You just enjoy the porch weather while it's here. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. Stay safe, stay prepared. and enjoy the day.

  • 2/28 Georgia Weather Noon: 45° Above Normal
    Feb 28 2026
Good afternoon. Georgia. I'm Aaron Jolly. Folks, watch that gray blanket lift right before your eyes this afternoon. High pressure is building in from the northwest to sweep away the gloom. We're already sitting at a mild 62 degrees. Metro Atlanta climbs to 69 degrees under sunny skies by late day. Head east toward Augusta and you'll hit 68 degrees. Down on the coast. Savannah reaches 65 degrees with a bit more of a north breeze off the water. In the next 24 hours. Tonight, the pattern holds with mostly clear skies. Lows drop to the mid-40s statewide. but here's the thing. Calm air and lingering moisture mean patchy fog develops before dawn. Eastern Georgia sees it as early as 2 A.M. Coastal areas, watch out after 4 A.M. Sunday is the absolute pick of the weekend. A warm southwest flow pushes highs into the mid-70s. Eastern Georgia could touch 78 degrees. That's about 45 degrees above normal for late February. Enjoy it. Because a backdoor front slides through Sunday night. Monday brings what we call a wedge pattern. Cool air dammed up against the Appalachians spills into Georgia from the northeast. Temperatures drop 45 degrees to 45 degrees from Sunday's highs. Metro Atlanta stays in the low 60s. You'll feel that easterly breeze gusting to 25 miles an hour. Looking ahead. Wednesday warms back into the low 70s. By Thursday and Friday, we're talking upper 70s to near 80 degrees. Rain chances return late week as Gulf moisture flows north. One note for Newton and Rockdale Counties. The Yellow River remains above flood stage but should recede by this evening. Spring equinox is now just three weeks away. We're gaining over two minutes of daylight each day. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. Stay safe, stay prepared. and enjoy the day.
