À propos de cet audio
Climate change will have an extreme impact on the planet in the decades to come. Forecasting the future climate is critical to assessing risks for society and the economy. Climate models are what scientists use to predict weather events like extreme heat waves, heavy storms and rising sea levels but current models fall short for projections at more regional and local levels. That information is needed to prevent and mitigate the cost of climate change.
Dr Enrico Biffis and alumnus Ravi Varghese examine how climate modelling offers useful data for investors and insurance providers in order to allocate resources where they are needed the most. They also discuss the need for professionals from a variety of fields of expertise to come together in order to translate scientific data into concrete public policy.
